A feat of foresight?
[edit]The article tells us:
- It remained in the church until the beginning of the 19th century, based on indirect commentaries from editions of Giorgio Vasari's Le Vite that cite the work.
But Le Vite was written centuries earlier.
If "indirect commentaries" means later editorial annotations, then at least one of these should be clearly identified. (Paging Wingedserif!) -- Hoary (talk) 05:20, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Hoary: Yes, you're right!—the NGA site says that the disappearance was only announced in an 1832 edition of Le Vite. I'll change the article text to more accurately reflect that. —Wingedserif (talk) 14:44, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
