Kenilworth

[edit]

Re. the photo of the house described as Kenilworth: is this correct? The "witch house" of that name doesn't appear that way at street level.

Answer

[edit]

Just to answer myself, the abovementioned house is not one of the witches' houses (photos of which should appear soon).

Also,I'd like to point out that the four churches listed in the article are treated as internal links, but they are actually external links. They can still be listed where they are, but if external links are provided, they should be in the list of External Links at the bottom of the article.

Pollon

[edit]

Checked out the Book of Sydney Suburbs today, and unless I'm blind, the author's name is Pollon, not Pollen as it has been written so far. But I have no intention of correcting them all in the articles.

Pictures of half houses filling up the article

[edit]

On one or two occasions I have tried to remove a few odd looking photos that are wasting article space. The offending images are listed below. The images are of average looking houses, and not only that they are images only half a house or part of a house. There are a lot of houses in a suburb, so, what are we going to do, take a picture of every house in the suburb and post it here, no I don't think that would be appropriate. I propose that we delete most of the images and just keep two or three of the best and position them on either the left or right hand side of the article, one or two per section. For example, the Boston article would be a good learning piont, we should try to edit to achieve this kind of look in all articles and not just the important ones.. PoorPhotoremovalist (talk) 09:47, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I also find that this article has a very long list of one liners that are not really necessary for the article. I think that this should be looked into as well.PoorPhotoremovalist (talk) 09:55, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Johnston Street group

Photos again (to many images)

[edit]
If you are planning to delete photos from articles, you should at least create a wikimedia commons page that features the deleted photos and then add the link to article. J Bar (talk) 23:31, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think the most recent version of this articles is the best so far and just becuase the article mentions a certain street and every house on a particular block doesn't mean that we need to have a picture of every single house on that block. If all those pictures are to be reinstated then I will have to add the clean up tag again. Above you have mentioned that I should create a commons link, well I may do this but if I do then a lot more photos need to be removed from the article and into the associated link. Once this is done there will be no excuse to reinstate any of these poorly composed photographs. If this kind of behavior continues I will seek advise from several other Sydney editors to get their opinion PoorPhotoremovalist (talk) 02:26, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You have mentioned in one of you edit summaries that most other articles have these lists of heritage listed items, well thats because either you or another editor by the name of Sardaka have been adding these into the articles. Also I noticed that the abbey is mentioned twice in the article, once in the text and once in the list. Just because this house is mentioned twice in the article does not mean that we need 2 pictures of it. Once is enough, remember this is an article about a suburb, not just the houses in the suburb. Try and take some decent pictures. You should learn from your mistakes and try harder next time. Please view the article Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates. Read the reviews on some of the other photos. This may help you in future PoorPhotoremovalist (talk) 02:39, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How are they 'saddening' up the article exactly? J Bar (talk) 03:43, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
One of the images taken by myself over the weekend. I haven't uploaded any house pics yet.
I have noticed the re addition of some of the images of the Johnston st group. I actually have better quality images of these houses and will be replacing these ones soon. I also have images for the Abbey article and one of the other houses. I also have images of the Gore hill cemetery and the forum in St Leonards to replace what's in that article as well. If we could reduce the amount of photos in this article I probably won't replace any images ***Adam*** 00:51, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
  • I also have images of Hunter Baillie church and a replacement image for every other photo in this article. ***Adam*** 00:55, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
