Tone and Wording

[edit]

I'm very new to Wikipedia, but the tone for this article feels incredibly off and not in keeping with the Guide to addressing bias policy. For example, "In 1788 she inveigled into marriage a farm servant..." - this might be true, but there's no details given as to the circumstances of the marriage. The entire article is very unsympathetic, in contrast to the National Biography entry that makes up much of the source. Wording is also generally awkward, as in "Reduced to dire poverty, she subsisted on the minimum amount of food necessary to support a human being, and the astonishment created locally by her long fasts doubtless encouraged her to undertake the imposture which made her notorious." This is a wiki, if you think you can improve the tone and wording then don't ask for permission, be bold, do it! Others will revert equally boldly if they think its much worse which I m sure it won't be. Welcome!! Victuallers (talk) 09:47, 17 August 2021 (UTC) The wording that you are questioning comes from the DNB over 100 years ago. I'm sure you can improve it (without using ODNB phrasing) Victuallers (talk) 09:52, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
