Honorifics

[edit]

I admit to a personal bias against honorifics because the really bad self-biographies on wikipedia often include them. When I see one up front, I say, "this is going to be a bad article." That said, practice is not to use them, and I believe it is in the manual of style. The obituary using "dr," though, clears up the "dr" versus "mr" for the surgeon.

I would like the honorific removed in accordance with style guidelines for wikipedia. --Kleopatra (talk) 20:52, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I shall have a look at the MOS. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Otherwise, I'll do a search myself. Schwede66 21:39, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, found it. WP:CREDENTIAL is the relevant part of the MOS and that stipulates that the Dr shall go. Schwede66 09:15, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I know I've seen it, but could not find it in the usual places. Maybe I'll make some redirects. --Kleopatra (talk) 15:49, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
