[edit]Many of the sources cited in this article do not mention a "university" of centre of learning: they only talk about Mithila or people associated with it in general. Also, many of the sources do not pass WP:RS (and WP:HISTRS) standards. utcursch | talk 15:54, 17 November 2022 (UTC)

Substandard article
[edit]This article is unclear, confusing, poorly written, and very poorly sourced. WP:TNT might be an option. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 19:35, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
@Sntshkumar750: as you've noticed, I've followed my own advice, with apologies for all the work you put in it. Yet, may I ask you to stick to WP:RS and WP:VERIFIABILITY? Regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 10:51, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
I notice that you recreated a deleted article under a slightly different name. Also, a draft for it was declined four times. This may be regarded as unconstructive editing... Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 11:13, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- I restored the deleted draft and history-merged it into the page history of this article. If you don't think this article should exist, then WP:Articles for deletion is the proper way to "TNT" it, rather than WP:Deletion by redirection to your new article. – wbm1058 (talk) 14:52, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Wbm1058: I didn't "delete by redirection"; I removed all of the contents, as none of it was properly sourced; and I changed the name of the article, as the name "university" was misleading, as the name seems to be used for a tradition of Vedic learning at the households of Vedic teachers. Maybe that could be called a "university," but if so, there should be a proper source which explains so. I suggest that you take a look at the history of previous versions of this article; as noted above, Sntshkumar750 seems to have recreated a deleted article by simply changing the name. Regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 15:02, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- OK here are the two previous deletions of Mithila University:
- 14:45, 23 June 2021 Liz deleted page Mithila University (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of https://ugcnetpaper1.com/education-in-ancient-india/)
- 18:41, 22 June 2021 Hut 8.5 deleted page Mithila University (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of https://www.telanganamata.com/universities-of-great-ancient-india/)
- Also there was deletion due to WP:draftification. Per WP:DRAFTOBJECT: "other editors, including the author of the page, but excluding editors with a conflict of interest, have a right to object to draftifying the page. If an editor raises an objection, move the page back to mainspace and, if necessary, list it at AfD. A page may only be moved unilaterally to the draftspace a single time. If anyone objects, it is no longer an uncontroversial move, and the page needs to be handled through other processes, such as deletion, stubbing, tagging, etc."
- There should be a discussion about whether to keep the non-copyright violating version of this article.
- It was not necessary to move this page in order to provide WP:Attribution for previous edits, when you did not intend to preserve any of the previous edits. – wbm1058 (talk) 15:26, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

- @Wbm1058: okay, thanks for the clarification. What brought me here was the addition of several pages to Category:Ancient Mithila University, see here, for example. Addition to such a category when the category's main topic is highly relevant; yet, it's not even clear what "ancient Mithila university" is. From what I understand from the little that I found, the actual topic is the tradition of Vedic learning in Mithila, as explained there. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 15:40, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- I'm an American with no knowledge and very little interest in these topics. I just landed here because your page move and edits threw technical flags that my patrols noticed. So I can't speak to the appropriateness of that category nor its members. You could start a discussion at WP:Categories for discussion. – wbm1058 (talk) 15:50, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
