This is good stuff, especially given that not even eswiki has this article. Glad I took this one on... I think articles with heavy doses of Spanish-language sources are languishing at GA (and I've done beyond my share of Bolivian politician reviews).
- Thanks for picking her up Sammi. I appreciate your reviewing her. All articles with mostly foreign sources, i.e. a bunch of mine because I write often about migrating women, sit awhile, and mismo on the politicians. SusunW (talk) 15:27, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

- a. (images are tagged and non-free content have non-free use rationales):
- There is a fair-use photo of Amado in the infobox with valid NFCC. The image of Nicolás Casullo is PD in Argentina but not the US; it needs to be deleted from Commons (where it has to be PD in both countries) and may be acceptable fair use on enwiki for an article of him, but not here.
- b. (appropriate use with suitable captions):
- (If the Casullo image is removed)

- Overall: In short: References good. Some copy changes. The Casullo image must go. Ping me when fixed. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 05:22, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Lead
[edit]- Amado grew up in rural Argentina and after training to be a teacher earned a degree in political science from the Catholic University of Santiago del Estero. Adding commas around the bolded section would help reading.
- Done SusunW (talk) 15:27, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Typo of "magaines"
- 3 editors all missed this? Thank you, for seeing it. Fixed SusunW (talk) 15:27, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- indigenous women at Instituto Latinoamericano this would read better with a "the" after "at". The ILET name does not need to be italicized.
- Sorry. I cannot for the life of me figure out why italics is the default. I try to remember to input italics=no, but as you see, sometimes that's an issue. Fixed. SusunW (talk) 15:27, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- The potential for the election of 1983 to result in a return to democracy in Argentina, led the couple to return home that year. Remove unnecessary comma
- Done SusunW (talk) 15:27, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- On her return, she submitted her thesis to the University of Buenos Aires but its approval was delayed until her advisor returned from exile. Add comma after "Aires". See User:Sammi Brie/Commas in sentences (CinS), particularly if you write in a more AmEng style.

Early life
[edit]- Her father was engaged in manufacturing wooden products and her mother was a teacher. Add comma after products (CinS)
- Done SusunW (talk) 15:49, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Her parents were both killed in an accident in 1964 and she and her brothers went to live with an aunt. Add comma after 1964 (CinS). The "both" is likely unnecessary given plural "parents".
- Good catch, thanks! SusunW (talk) 15:49, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
Career
[edit]- Amado moved to Buenos Aires after graduating in 1972, and began airing a music program, Música en libertad (Music in Freedom) on Channel 9, but quickly moved to El Trece reporting on the popular newscast Telenoche. Long sentence could be split up. The CinS issue (remove comma after 1972) should be mitigated by just splitting the sentence there.
- Done SusunW (talk) 16:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- "El Trece" should be labeled "Canal 13". It was not known as El Trece until much later than this.
- Done except piped it in English. SusunW (talk) 16:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- It might be worth noting that Channel 7 is state-owned to provide context that might otherwise be lost.
- Great context! Thank you. Added. SusunW (talk) 16:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- It so happens that a) I'm a television nerd, b) I'm fluent in Spanish, and c) I did translations years ago of the main Buenos Aires station articles into English. I also have a handful of DYKs in Argentine TV. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 17:04, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Very cool. I didn't even own a TV until after I was 50. I have enough Spanish to survive here in Mexico, but am not fluent by any stretch of the imagination. (Better at reading than speaking and definitely hearing is the most difficult. "¡Más despacio! por favor", is probably my most-used phrase.) As an immigrant, I am fascinated by immigrant women's stories. SusunW (talk) 18:01, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Although the project fell apart, she continued meeting with Casullo in regard to her radio program and they began dating. Comma after "program" (CinS)
- Done SusunW (talk) 16:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- The couple secretly married in November 1974 and a few days later, Casullo left for Cuba. Comma after 1974 (CinS)
- Done SusunW (talk) 16:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Her documentary film, Ruidos en la cabeza (Noises in the Head) created for Productora Creativos Audiovisuales (Creative Audiovisual Productions) aired in 1976. Complete the appositive by adding a comma after the second parenthetical.
- Done SusunW (talk) 16:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Italicize El Universal as a periodical title.
- Done SusunW (talk) 16:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Schooling for her daughters and submitting her thesis El discurso femenino como comunicación alternativa (The Female Discourse as Alternative Communication), were her first priorities. Complete the appositive by adding a comma after "thesis".
- Done SusunW (talk) 16:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Comma after "Alicia Entel"; comma after "Argumedo"; comma after the parenthetical for FEMPRES's name (or consider a semicolon on that one).
- Done SusunW (talk) 16:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- "Construcciones y narraciones de género en cine, literatura y prensa escrita typo — missing closing quotes

- The name of the work was a play on the duality of the word "just". In other words, did films portray just an image, or was it the just (correct or right) image. The latter is not a standalone sentence. Try The name of the work was a play on the duality of the word "just"—in other words, did films portray just an image, or was it the just (correct or right) image.
- ibeoamérica typo and capitalization

Death
[edit]- She is remembered as a mentor by colleagues, and as a founder of the field of gender studies in Argentina. Remove comma (CinS)

Spot checks
[edit]- 6 Carli 2018 p127:
- Abortion/adoption stories in the local newspaper:
Pero Ana escribía también en un diario local: −Escribí cosas (sin haber elegido en ese momento, sin haber elegido específica o conscientemente el tema de género), escribía notas sobre abortos, sobre adopción.
- Canal 9 and Canal 13:
- Abortion/adoption stories in the local newspaper:
- 10 Raboy 2022: Mentions the Castro interview in Cuba and Casullo being on a Triple A death squad.
- Sammi Brie I truly thank you for your collaboration and suggestions to improve the article. I think I have addressed everything, but please, if I missed something or further discussion is needed, just ping me. I removed the photo of Casullo per your notes above. I appreciate your work!
