Austin Wild

[edit]

@Yosemiter: For some reason, I saw on SIF's page that Austin Wild was joining AAL and not Cape Fear, while as you said, the Heroes announced in their press conference today that they joined the AAL. I'm kinda confused at this point. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 01:10, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jd22292: When they self-publisheer their name change on their website, it had a big AAL banner and said they had joined a Western Division with Tampico and Sacramento. They next day, they removed the banner and edited the article to say they were in "serious discussions" with the AAL. Yosemiter (talk) 01:13, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Will refrain from making edits in regards to the team. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 01:14, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I never added it because it looked suspect. The Torch also list several teams that have not been announced or are not listed on the AAL page. The CenPenn Chargers are still posting like they are members as well. Kinda telling about the level of the league. Yosemiter (talk) 01:16, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Is AAL Still a Thing ?

[edit]

As of July 2023, the league website still promises the league and its new, presumably developmental subsidiary, were to launch "Spring 2023", which obviously didn't happen. I don't want to assume anything, but it seems pretty unlikely that this league will ever restart. 2600:1004:B11A:6F6E:0:55:14A4:8B01 (talk) 15:39, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The AAL2 is currently playing, implying it might come back at some point.Ccui123 (talk) 16:22, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As of August 25, 2024, any form of the league seems like it is not running. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.7.210.84 (talk) 01:25, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed split

[edit]

I would like to propose a split of the content about AAL2 into its own Wiki article: American Arena League 2. This appears to be a similar situation to the Arena Football League and AF2 where the minor league is a completely separate entity from its associated major league, and the primary content about the minor league does not need to be bundled in with the content about the major league it feeds into. I think this discussion needs to wait until the "regular" AAL comes back, in the past 2 seasons they only played AAL2 season... Ccui123 (talk) 21:08, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with @Ccui123, since at no point have the two leagues ever operated at the same time and, like the AFL of 1987 and the AFL of 2010, there is a direct line of continuity between the two, with a reorganization in-between, without overlap. (That said, the page could use some cleanup to bring it in line with other indoor leagues... but that's another issue altogether.) J. Myrle Fuller (talk) 22:14, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. It is looking like nothing is going to come of the AAL. AAL2 is the only entity going. VyveGuy1 (talk) 20:57, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. The AAL hasn't played a game since 2021 and has changed ownership since then. While it is possible the AAL returns, separating the AAL2 into its own article would be less confusing and beneficial. Nascarium (talk) 14:14, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
