" Larrea tridentata, which produces a chemical that inhibits the growth of A. dumosa"

I read that recent studies have shown that the reason for suppression of nearby growth might not be chemical, but strictly due to the efficiency of creosote roots in water absorbtion, resulting in its ability to outcompete with Ambrosia dumosa and other species, causing the suppression of growth near it.
