Merging & Modifications

I recently performed the mergers, the requests were not deleted since February so I decided to go ahead an perform them. All that is needed is some rewriting and organizing of the data. There are certain places that need citations. Someone with more knowledge of international repeaters outside the USA should elaborate about how those systems are organized.

Removing External Links

I am proposing to remove external links to club repeaters and personal websites unless they provide information useful to understanding how an amateur radio repeater works. Please let me know if there are any objections on my talk page. KB1LQC (talk) 17:50, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Updates and relationship to radio repeater

KB1LQC, nice work with the updates to this article. However, I'm concerned that some information is overlapping with the information at radio repeater. Some of this information is not specific to amateur use, so I'm not sure it all belongs in this article. Your thoughts? --ChrisRuvolo (t) 22:17, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

ChrisRuvolo, I agree and the thought has occurred to me too. How do you think we should go about separating it? It looks as though much of the information on the technical side has been covered by radio repeater. Perhaps the page should focus more on the application of repeaters within the amateur radio hobby. I am relatively new to editing articles on Wikipedia, is there a way to link to radio repeater as being an "application of this technology" or something along those lines? Perhaps certain unique technical features of amateur repeaters could be included here but let all the general features of repeaters be located on radio repeater. Digipeater / DSTAR

As far as I know, packet "digipeaters" and D-STAR repeaters are not similar. D-STAR is a digital mode; packet is modulated on FM. I suggest removing or clarifying the reference to D-STAR. Also, it should be noted that D-STAR "repeaters" are often connected to the "reflector," which introduces a VoIP layer. Comments? Isorhythmic (talk) 07:01, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
