Misspelled?
[edit]Google autocompletes to Alangium griffithii, and finds [1], [2] etc. Also, is The Plant List considered definitive for these things? I came across this article browsing WP:ORPHANs and thought I could link from Alangium but it's not on the list of species there, nor on [3]. Mortee (talk) 00:58, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
- Good catch on the spelling. It should have two i's. The Plant List has been treated as the definitive source on Wikipedia for plant species, but it hasn't been updated since 2012. We're waiting for a new resource, World Flora Online, to roll out as the successor to The Plant List. In the meantime, Plants of the World Online has some updates to the TPL dataset. Both TPL and POWO treat A. griffithii as a synonym of A. uniloculare, but we don't have an article for that species yet. 22:54, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply Plantdrew. If A. uniloculare is a synonym for A. griffithii, should A. uniloculare on Alangium be switched to say A. griffithii and link here, or should this article move to Alangium uniloculare? At the moment we're using both terms. Mortee (talk) 01:20, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
- Mortee, I added a link from Alangium to A. griffithii in this edit; it's not ideal, but I think it works for the moment. Ultimately there should be an article for A. uniloculare and A. griffithii should redirect there. I'm not finding much in the way of good references for a A. uniloculare article right now, but I have access to better resources (offline and on) during the week than I do on weekends. - That's great, thank you Plantdrew
