Questionable edits that were removed
[edit]"This was in the wake of massive demonstrations by (primarily) Mexican, Central and South American nonimigrants in the streets of Los Angeles over their perceived right to the benefits of American Citizenship."
This edit is in well written language but misleading. It conveys the impression that Rantel suddenly went into overdrive when the demonstrations were taking place, when in fact his conflict with the immigration issue began well before those demonstrations.
"This apparent anti-gay attitude from a gay individual is shared by another conservative, gay KABC talk show host, Tammy Bruce."
This edit repeats information already given and uses the phrase "anti-gay" incorrectly to characterize Rantel. The fact that Rantel apparently disagrees with the political views of most of the gay community does not make him "anti-gay." The information about Tammy Bruce was already given here:
"Among political talk radio personalites, KABC colleague Tammy Bruce [7] and KOGO host Steve Yuhas [8] have somewhat comparable perspectives."

"He has since not described Davis by that name since he is a frequent guest."
The contribution at the end of the line is somewhat speculatory. Gray Davis has appeared on the show multiple times but that does not make him a "frequent guest." In addition, Rantel has explained on the program that he avoids confronting Davis's political beliefs because the former governor no longer holds public office.

Not cool ...
[edit]A section about Rantel's anti-Catholic remarks, and repetitive anti-Catholicism, were not only removed, they were removed without discussion. Not cool, folks. Not cool at all. D323P (talk) 23:39, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Classic Radio Moment
[edit]Al no longer links up with Mike Mendoza from Talksport as Mike no longer works for that station. A classic moment of Radio was when Al was hosting callers from L.A. to speak to Mike in London when a young lady in Los Angeles called in to refer to the disaster in New Orleans and asked listeners in England to remember the folks in the ruined city in On Line appeals. Mike in act of total tactlessness then retorted to the young American Lady; 'why should we help people in New Orleans stood there with their begging bowls held out, let em rot I say'. There was a moments silence, (even Al was thrown for a moment), before the American Lady responded; 'excuse me, how you can you be so callous'. 'Very easily actually, they can all go and rot' sniffed Mike. Al then had to deal with a switch board that went crazy with enraged callers from L.A. demanding Mike be cut off. Al responded after half a dozen enraged calls; 'Look this show isn't Church. If Mike does not want to help the people in New Orleans that is his privilege, if he wants to hold the views he holds, and I don't agree with any of them, that is his privilege'. It was a classic half hour of Radio where Al was outstanding and elequent in defending Free Speech on Talkradio. An exhausted sounding Al signed off from L.A. at the end of the London Link up.Johnwrd (talk) 04:23, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
