Requested move 21 February 2023
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: not moved. Rough consensus that the newspaper is not the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC over other uses of "Anwar" and "al-Anwar". (non-admin closure) ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 15:50, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
Al Anwar (Lebanese newspaper) → Al Anwar – The newspaper seems to be a clear primary topic for the term, so rename per WP:CONCISE. Certes (talk) 11:41, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- Note (as proposer): If the newspaper is found not to be a primary topic, we should probably redirect Al Anwar to dab Anwar and fix its incoming links. Certes (talk) 11:46, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- Note Anwar would not be a correct name for the paper since in Arabic a determiner "Al" should be used. Egeymi (talk) 14:50, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose fails the "Al Anwar is" test in GBooks In ictu oculi (talk) 16:42, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- Also the target is a redirect to Al Anwar entries on the Anwar dab page. Al Anwar (Tunisian newspaper) doesn't have an article but should have a dab mention. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:54, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. "Al Anwar", "al-Anwar", "al-anwar", "al-anwār", "anwār" and "anwar" (among others) should all be treated the same, since they are all just different ways of transliterating Arabic. Too many possible referents. Redirect to dab page. Srnec (talk) 23:45, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
