Origin of the diamond
[edit]It seems unlikely that this account from the Tuzuk-i Jahangiri refers to the Akbar Shah, since the two inscriptions that were on the stone read 'Shah Akbar the Shah of the World 1028' and 'To the Lord of two Worlds Shah Jahan 1039'. If the stone had been given to the Emperor between these two (Jahangir), then why did it bear his father's name and his son's name? It is more likely to have been a possession of the Emperor Akbar, and the account in the Tuzuk-i Jahangiri would be of so significance. (The Hijri dates correspond to AD 1618 1nd AD 1629.)
