Don't know if this should be included in a place history but it might be useful. TMLutas 21:58, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
In May, the mayor of Aitaroun accused the Israelis of killing all of their tobacco crop. I was going to include it, but wasn't sure where to put it. Finally decided to leave it out for now to keep the article from sounding awkward.--66.253.174.65 19:16, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
I think that Israel invaded in 1982, not in 1978! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.153.177.160 (talk) 11:08, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Israel Lebanon conflict
[edit]I find that this edit cherrypicks the source. The source also says, among other things (on the same page, 66):
- "[Israel's] hope was that brute and indiscriminate force would achieve the last two of these objectives, turning Lebanon’s inhabitants and government against Hizballah and pushing them to bring the party into check."
- "[The IDF practiced] a disregard for the essential distinction between ‘military targets’ and ‘civilians’."
- "On the whole, however, Hizballah did not locate its military facilities in builtup areas, preferring to build its bunkers and weapons storage facilities in fields and valleys on the outskirts of southern villages."

"Hiding in the village"
[edit]I'm surprised to see this addition by EnfantDeLaVille. As this was their 8th edit to enwiki, it violated EC restrictions in the Arab-Israeli conflict area (though the user has since become EC). The bigger issue is that the source doesn't say "the Israeli army attacked Hezbollah operatives who were hiding in the village", instead its google translation says "An Israeli strike destroyed a neighborhood in a residential area of the village of Aïtaroun, injuring four people and causing significant material damage." The only mention of Hezbollah happens later on and not in connection with the attack on Aitaroun: "Israeli warplanes flew over Beirut, Mount Lebanon, the North and the Bekaa. Automatic weapons fire was reported from the Metula settlement towards Lebanon. Israeli warplanes also attacked several Hezbollah posts."
