Active fire protection
[edit]See comment on the talk page for passive fire protection.--Achim 23:42, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Nobody debated me after several attempts made by myself on why this article should me merged with fire protection. The way it is now, each of the relevant articles refer nicely to one another. So, after receiving no response on the matter, I removed the merge note.--Achim 04:40, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
"A 3 hour fire-resistance rated wall can be safely presumed to cost less money to build than a 1 hour rated wall.": this looks very much like a mix-up, but I do not feel versed enough in the topic to immediately correct it. The fire alarm comes in three sounds (siren, buzzer and screetch).128.131.214.206 23:33, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Loction of AFP and PFP discussion
[edit]Relating to revert by Ahering:
Why did you label the edits I made in moving the subject text from the Active Fire Protection article to this more general article, "(rv vandalism (no need potty words in here))"? It is not vandalism to move text to a more appropriate location. I did not use inappropriate language.
A discussion of the merits and emphasis of both AFP and PFP is more appropriate in the Fire Protection article, which has a higher hierarchal basis than either AFP or the PFP articles. Other wise, the text would have to be repeated on each page for balance, which is not logical for future editing, or concise for the overall project. Additionally, the Fire Protection article already had an existing section discussing both.
Could I ask you to please discuss editing reverts before proceeeding. In this spirit, I will wait for your response before editing.Fireproeng 11:52, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- Achim, this is a request again to explain the issues in the above 9 Mar discussion. These points already exist in the fire protection article, so it is redundant and inconsistant here. Fireproeng 02:52, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I don't struggle with that. You're quite right. The fire protection article does address it. Otherwise, we would have to repeat it in the PFP article as well. How about a quick reference to the topic in both PFP and AFP without repeating all that stuff? Actually, I created the AFP article but it is not very meaty as yet. I created one on the term cable and all sorts of useful edits have resulted that made the whole thing better, but not so with AFP. I think it's probably because of the segmentation of that market. A guy who sells sprinklers woluld not be remotely concerned with bells and whistles, thus failing to see that bigger picture even for his AFP side... Contractors would not care to edit much for the most part and among the vendors and manufacturers, there is not so much overlap. I wish it got more detailed. But if you want to take the lobbying stuff out of AFP, go ahead. --Achim 23:03, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Unreferenced tag
[edit]As my name was used without my permission by User:Ahering@cogeco.ca in reverting the recent unreferenced tag, I want to set the record straight. I agree this article is not properly referenced, and the unreferenced tag is appropriate. Fireproeng (talk) 23:17, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Two minutes on google is all it takes. Reference was added. --Achim (talk) 20:17, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Inline references also added... --Achim (talk) 02:29, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

- I've removed the content since it's available here in his userspace. Mattvoza, when it comes to a revamp of an article it's best to just link to it, as otherwise it takes up a lot of space on the talk page. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:09, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
