"Initiated" date in infobox
[edit]@KamranMackey: I don't think the November 6, 2017 date is accurate. According to the article and the cited source in the article body, November 6 is the date that news outlets first began reporting that Disney and 21st Century Fox were in talks about a possible acquisition. This was not the date the deal was "initiated" as talks had apparently been underway for a while, according to the article, and a deal wouldn't be announced until the following month. Accordingly, I don't think it is accurate to characterize that date as the date on which the acquisition was "initiated" in the infobox.
I also don't think that the date that was in the infobox originally, July 19, 2018, is accurate either (which is why I haven't reverted back again). I think it would make more sense to use the date on which the deal was first confirmed by the parties themselves -- December 14, 2017 -- as that was the date on which the process of seeking regulatory approvals officially began. That said, I'm not sure if it's even necessary to use this parameter in the infobox at all since the history/timeline of this particular acquisition is so convoluted. - @Aoi: I have changed the initiated date to the December 14, 2017 date and added a comment for now. If more information eventually comes to light about when talks may have first began, don't fret to ping me! Also I didn't even realize that you reverted my edit, I just thought I somehow managed to revert my November date change. Sorry for reverting that on you. - Kamran Mackey (talk to me · my contributions) 01:27, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
- @KamranMackey: Thank you for making the change and leaving the note. And no need to apologize for reverting me, I am actually the one who should have double checked the dates myself before I made my revert. Thank you for your edits to build the infobox! Acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney → Acquisition of 21st Century Fox by The Walt Disney Company – complete company name UnkreativeFrog (talk) 16:44, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- Strong oppose per WP:CONCISE and WP:COMMONNAME. The current title is succinct enough, and the proposed title is far too long and violates MOS:THEINST. InfiniteNexus (talk) 18:16, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. Trailblazer101 (talk) 02:35, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose move. There is no reason to use the full name "The Walt Disney Company" when "Disney" works just as well. O.N.R. (talk) 05:22, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
