Abrazame Muy Fuerte as the album's lead single

[edit]

According to El Siglo de Torreon, Del Altar Hasta la Tumba was the album's lead single, not the title track. Erick (talk) 15:59, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Background and composition

[edit]
  • In 1999, he released Todo Está Bien - I would add "the studio album" before the title for context
  • corroborated by Billboard editor John Lannert on 6 May and stated that Gabriel... - I think changing the bolded text to "6 May, who stated" might read better
  • that it matches the name of the song - "matches" → "match"
  • which stars Victoria Ruffo, Aracely Arámbula, Fernando Colunga and Pablo Montero began - add a comma after Montero
  • began broadcasting in Mexico on 31 July 2000 - "broadcasting" should be changed to "broadcast"
  • It became very successful and ended winning eight TVyNovelas Awards in 2001 - I would change the bolded text to simply "won"
  • Maybe my translation is faulty, but I'm only seeing five awards for the show in [11]. Am I navigating it wrong, maybe?
  • I can't find the first lyric within [17]
  • I found this in [13]. Maybe add it to infobox with a music video template, setting the header to "Licensed audio"?
  • I had trouble accessing and translating a few sources, so I'm assuming good faith on most. I'll still spotcheck where I can. Verified: [2], [8], [12], [13], [14], [18]
  • Sample has appropriate rationale and matches WP:SAMPLE

Promotion and covers

[edit]
  • for his greatest hits album - change "his" to "Gabriel" for clarity
  • 25th studio album of the same name - I would add "of the same name as the song". I was thinking the studio album was titled El Alma Musical de Juan Gabriel until I checked the link
  • Gabriel performed the song live at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City during he was celebrating his 40th anniversary of his music trajectory - I'm a little unclear of what "music trajectory" is referring this; his music career? The bolded text has a typo and should be amended
  • Anthony released it as the second single on 2 August 2010 from his tenth studio album Iconos (2010) - I would change the order here; something like "Anthony released it on 2 August 2010 as the second single from his tenth studio album Iconos (2010)".
  • Anthony bought six hundred records to listen and select the songs that would be included on the album - this also sounds a slight bit clunky. Maybe something along the lines of "Anthony listened to six hundred records to select songs for the album"?
  • I would remove the fan poll since I don't think fan opinions of a cover from a different artist's album holds much weight; the charting is more relevant
  • Pantoja's rendition produced by Gabriel before she was sentenced to prison in 2014 and was released after Gabriel's death in 2016 - I think this could be reworded for better flow as well. An example could be "Pantoja's rendition was produced by Gabriel before she was sentenced to prison in 2014 and released after Gabriel's death in 2016."
  • Castro included on his tribute album - do you mean "Castro included a cover on his tribute album"?
  • I would remove the information on Castro's music video since its primary sourced and not directly to the original artist.
  • Verified: [20], [21], [22], [24], [25], [26], [30], [32]

Reception

[edit]
  • placing number eight and seven on Classic Rock History and Singers Room - "on Classic Rock History and Singers Room's lists"
  • on their 10 Most Memorable Songs by Juan Gabriel - add "list" at the end
  • and also received the Songwriter of the Year award - change the bolded "and" to "he"
  • Does [12] really specify Silvetti as producer? I see he won the award but no mention of the song
  • also was awarded for Pop Song of the Year at the 2002 Lo Nuestro Awards - bolded "also" should be after the "was". Remove the bolded "for"
  • It was nominated "Best Theme Song" at the TVyNovelas Awards in 2001 - change to "nominated for". Also, why is the award name in brackets when all others are not?
  • I'm unable to see any mention of "Abrázame Muy Fuerte" in [39]
  • [41], [42], [43], [44],[45], and [46] return with 404 errors. They might need archiving, perhaps? Or just a regional issue?
  • as well as ranked number one on its year-end chart - could shortened to "and ranked number one [...]"
  • Verified: [13], [14], [16], [17], [34], [35], [25], [36], [38], [40], [48]

Charts

[edit]
  • Verified: [49], [50], [51], [52], [53], [54], [55]
  • Decade-End charts - "end" should be in lowercase

Infobox and lead

[edit]
  • The album title is contradicted in the infobox, lead, and body. Infobox says El Alma de Juan Gabriel; lead says El Alma de Divo; body says El Alma Musical de Juan Gabriel
  • A dead space should be removed after the two lead paragraphs

Conclusion

[edit]

Overall, not many issues. What I've brought up is minor prose problems and such, which should be decently swift and easy to fix. IanTEB (talk) 13:09, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'll get to work on this next week. Erick (talk) 17:12, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Magiciandude: It's been a week and no update has been made to the article. I don't mind holding the review open for longer, but an update would be appreciated. IanTEB (talk) 18:12, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IanTEB Sorry, I was out of town for a week and was busy with work. I think I got just about everything except for the url for the audio cover. I think for the infobox it's only for music videos. Erick (talk) 17:42, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response. I've cleaned up some remaining issues but I can pass this now. You could audio into the infobox but its not required; regardless, it would also be useful external link. IanTEB (talk) 14:33, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
