Grammar

I can't edit a grammar mistake, could someone else? Within the 'homesick' section, the sentence "The band confirmed that they would playing at the..." is missing 'be' (they would be playing). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.23.48.107 (talk) 21:20, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Under the "Common Courtesy" heading, it currently says "On March 18, 2013, McKinnon announced that the new album Common Courtesy has completed the recording process and was now going to be tracked." That should say "On March 18, 2013, McKinnon announced that the new album Common Courtesy has completed the recording process and was now going to be mixed." instead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.119.244.192 (talk) 00:45, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

New album

Just got confirmed - could someone please add this link to the discussion? http://www.victoryrecords.com/news/article/1078/A_DAY_TO_REMEMBER_RECORD_NEW_ALBUM —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.1.153.194 (talk) 18:57, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

The article mentions tracking was finished on July 23rd with Chad Gilbert, but this was only pre-production for the record. The actual album is still currently being tracked with Andrew Wade, and has one week of tracking left as of September 16th. The album will be relased November 16th —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jer757 (talkcontribs) 19:54, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Umm

What the heck is with the attack on the one guy in the band? I know nothing about it, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't belong in an encyclopedic entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.150.179.239 (talk) 00:21, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I believe it's about a show in Ocala where a fan was punched by a security guard and Jeremy stopped the show to tell the security off about how rude it is to punch a 16 year old kid in the face for crowd surfing. The video can be watched via YouTube [1] MFPen (talk) 20:38, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Metalcore influence

Just a side note, although it seems to have been realized...

A Day to Remember's latest album incorporates a huge metal influence. It's not the dominant sound (neither is pop-punk or post-hardcore), but it comes in significant doses. The thrash-metal like riffing on A Shot in the Dark's verse, for example. That's not post-hardcore or pop-punk (unless you consider Sum 41's one album, which had thrash metal influences).

There's a lot more metal on this album than Underoath's latest three albums, and that band is still listed as "Metalcore"

68.44.137.14 (talk) 05:28, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Personally, I don't agree at all with Underoath being metalcore, but that's another story. A Day to Remember's old album has metalcore influences, definitely; that's why I decided to keep it. However, I don't see where you are seeing it in the new one. They have some metal-like riffs, but metalcore? Metalcore itself differs from heavy metal and thrash metal mainly by vocals. By your logic, I could call Scary Kids Scaring Kids speed metal, because they have a lot of speed metal-like solos in their songs. A Day to Remember is as much rock as SKSK is. -- FatalError (t|c) 05:12, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
You're extremely wrong, metalcore differs itself from every other metal genres not just from vocals, but breakdowns and quick riffs as well. Furthermore SkSk is not at all metal, not speed metal or anything else; having a certain tempo in a band's music doesn't determine what genre they are. • GunMetal Angel 05:30, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Musical style and influences

A Day to Remember is often said to have influences in many genres, including pop punk,[2][3][4][5] metalcore,[4][5] emo,[4] and even death metal.[2] The band's music has been described as "mixing death metal grunts with the brash melodies of pop-punk,"[2] and a cross between "bouncy pop punk [and] chugging metalcore."[5]

Above is the Musical style and influences section I'm working on. I'd add it as-is, but I believe it needs more content. Feel free to help out and contribute. — FatalError 04:15, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

this band is so gay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.174.154.68 (talk) 05:40, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

This is all wrong how can A Day To Remember be categorized as metalcore it is obviously not. they started off as an easycore band probably one of the first to come out. Easycore is a hardcore and pop punk sub-genre which incorporates Hardcore and pop punk influences most, easycore bands just get really heavy and have a pop punk sound like Chunk! no, Captain Chunk or In Her Own Words. ADTR has no metalcore influence in there sound what so ever. Have you ever listened to metalcore, it sounds nothing like ADTR. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juanesque (talkcontribs) 06:30, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Street Team

Why do people keep adding a link to the ADTR "Street Team" on MySpace? What relevance does this have to the article at all? I don't believe it serves any purpose. See WP:EL. I will remove the link; DO NOT add it back without discussing here first. Any such edits will be reverted as spam. — FatalError 20:15, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Melodic Hardcore

Why do people persist on removing melodic hardcore from the genre box. They might not be the exact definition of melodic hardcore but they do shift between it and other genres. They're not completely pop punk or metalcore either, but everyone can agree that they do both those music styles so why can't it be agreed that they are a melodic hardcore band aswell. 86.147.70.88 (talk) 21:07, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

I agree on this one. There screaming is clearly hardcore, and even if this was lacking they would still contain many of the traits of melodic hardcore, like double kick drums and chugging, distorted, down-tuned guitars, much akin to bands like Four Year Strong and Set Your Goals. If these bands are considered hardcore, ADTR must be. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.185.147.47 (talk) 10:50, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Give me a source to prove it and you can bring it back. — FatalError 19:52, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Ehm i don't know how to use any of that source shit but, allmusic desribes them as melodic hardcore in their review of For Those Who Have Heart. Although i'm not sure if they're reliable or not. 86.156.230.157 (talk) 18:34, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Melodic death metal

I propose the removal of "melodic death metal" as a genre on the basis that:
1. the source does not explicitly say "melodic death metal", thus the conclusion is based upon original research and the assumption that using death metal vocals and "pop punk/post hardcore" somehow equates to "melodic death metal".
2. The opinion given by the source can be seen as an outlier perspective, I highly doubt that they are any other reliable sources that refer to this band as "melodic death metal" -Binary TSO ???

When I put that in I originally put just death metal (not melodic), because that's what the source says. But yeah, I agree with you, feel free to remove it. I think the quote in the next sentence is adequate. — FatalError 07:58, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Post-hardcore

I'm removing post-hardcore from thier genre list. I don't see how it applies to music that is a straight up fusion of pop-punk and hardcore/metalcore. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.39.104.106 (talk) 10:36, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

I reverted your edit. Please take the time to look at sources.--猛禽22 13:02, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

This band isn't really post-hardcore • GunMetal Angel 10:10, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
Nope, I would have to agree with you there. It's only because they fuse metalcore and pop-punk together that being averaged out as post-hardcore. I don't know what in the world people are thinking when they think this band is melodic hardcore. But out of WP:RS Heres some examples of genre: Allmusic: Post-hardcore/Emo-pop, Blare Magazine: Post-hardcore/pop-punk, Sputnik: pop-punk/metalcore/post-hardcore, Spitnik: melodic metalcore/pop punk Jonjonjohny (talk) 16:21, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't call ADTR post-hardcore, a lot of big publications that actually know what they're talking about like Allmusic, Alternative Press and Guitar World just call them a "metalcore/pop punk fusion band". Plain & simple. Besides they're not even punk enough to be considered actual post-hardcore and don't even get me started on the ridiculousness of kids thinking they can be classified (and bands like ADTR) as melodic hardcore either. • GunMetal Angel 12:22, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Easycore

People keep adding genres to this page. Come on what's bro-core or easycore? Tomorrow will be candycore, fatcore, beardcore or something even more ridiculous .--Locopunkie (talk) 17:05, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Download

Can someone add on their their third successive year at Download in 2010? [6]

No, easycore is a real genre. It incorporates Hardcore and pop punk influences into its sound. such bands as FOUR YEAR STRONG, IN HER OWN WORDS, and CHUNK! NO, CAPTAIN CHUNK. Have perfected and made it in music for playing easycore. It's a real genre although it may not be as known as others it should be acknowledged. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juanesque (talkcontribs) 06:33, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Not OK

i dont understand why people have to come up with such weird names for genres. Beardcores a good one. but seriously, cant you just keep ADTR filed under "pop-core"?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.10.123.69 (talk) 15:01, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah… if popcore was even a real genre. • GunMetal Angel 05:29, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

GunMetalAngel, Easycore is a genre, it's even a page on wikipedia. It's a combination of Metalcore and Pop Punk. Hate to tell you.

We can just call this genre: "A Day to Remember" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.30.195.161 (talk) 05:47, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Dude, they are metalcore. Just fuck off, take your genre warring somewhere else. Take pop with extreme metal, add punk breakdowns and that's ADTR. Post-hardcore is Silverstein or Chiodos. Only ADTR's lighter songs can be deemed to be post-hardcore-ish. • GunMetal Angel 08:03, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Early Influences

just a question, but there seems to be no discussion about the early demo ADTR gave out during their "DIY" tour back in 2003... I happen to know there is no title, (for it was probibly a burnt disk with their name on it) but searching the internet i found five songs that were on that Promo CD. -Westfall -This Sun has Set -If looks could kill.. Then you'd be dead -Breathe hope in me -Last Request

Also i see that no one talks about the song "1958" which is the reason Alex is their drummer now. Some guy who ranting on and on about how he was room mates with on of em said they had alot of problems with their old drummer and if you listen to the song you'll get why. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kster007 (talkcontribs) 02:48, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

I never knew this

Thanks for this particular update on the previous drummer,i was actually wondering what really happend to the previous drummer. But now i know thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billx6664 (talkcontribs) 13:49, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

Their old drummer was Brandon Roberts. When Bobbie was kicked out of the band (2004) for drug use I filled in and they wrote A Second Glance at their first practice with me. The dates under the previous members section is actually inaccurate. I was in the band in 2004. "1958" WAS the last four digits of my cell phone number. The problems that arose with me was I was not great at double bass and that's what they wanted. I also was having problems in the studio with recording to a metronome. The reason for all the hate from ADTR towards me is because when he left the band, they took songs I assisted in writing/composing and got signed. I threatened them with a law suit due to this and they got pissed off. Josh called me and asked me not to sue them and I agreed. They continued with their original drummer (Scruggs), who later got in trouble again. Josh then contacted me in mid-2005 asking me to come back and assist with their first European tour and I refused. I am now in law enforcement. Despite our differences, I am glad they got their dream and wish them the best. - BSR — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:100D:B113:2183:39EC:3C62:14CF:A60B (talk) 05:45, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Demo or old EP?

I don't understand something, in the music video for "A Second Glance" (ADTR's first ever video), the information section about the video located at the bottom-left hand corner it says the song is from "S/T EP". What's the "S/T EP"? In all of A Day to Remember's discography, I don't recall of them ever releasing an EP before they released their full-length. Just a demo. If there's any hardcore fans of this pop-metalcore quintet that would be able to figure this out, maybe you can be willing to leave some light on this? I mean even watching the video and hearing the differences the song has from the And Their Name Was Treason version would help into discovering if the song is the demo version or if there actually is an S/T EP after all. • GunMetal Angel 07:55, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

ADTR released a few songs with Scruggs around 03-04 which were featured on a local website called Slocala.com . They also released a 5 song demo with Brandon Roberts which featured a few of the songs on "And Their Name Was Treason." - Brandon Roberts

New 2012 Album

The section that states that their new album is supposedly called "This Is Not What We're Supposed To Be" and that they are recording in March 2012 is not true. I just saw them in concert tonight, 5/9/2012 at The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ. and Jeremy stated on stage that following the next final two shows of this tour they are heading into the studio to record so that would be late May, and that the new album is titled "Common Courtesy". A Day to Remember is in no way Emo

Emo, commonly referred to as Emotive Hardcore, is a genera consisting of melodic (sometimes disharmonious), sincere, raw, and heavily build-up dependent bands. True Emo bands are bands such as Saetia, City Of Caterpillar, Suis La Lune, Portraits Of Past, and I Hate Myself. A Day to Remember is more representative of modern-day America's idea of Emo which is in large part heavily tainted and laughably watered-down. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Atheisma (talkcontribs) 06:10, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Incorrect info in the Common Courtesy section

In the Common Courtesy part is says "On March 18, McKinnon announced that the new album Common Courtesy has completed the recording process and was now going to be tracked." When tracked means essentially the same thing as recorded. It should actually say 'mixed' instead of 'tracked' as it does in the tweet being referred to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tylertwy (talkcontribs) 22:41, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

A Day to Remember comments on their own Wikipedia page

This is pretty interesting, Loudwire started a "Fact or Fiction" video series where an interviewer reads excerpts from a band's Wikipedia page and has the band comment on them. Adding the genre easycore

Though many may think otherwise, A Day To Remember are not pop punk. They have pop punk elements, but they're not pop punk. The genre you're all looking for is easycore. I can't think of a single song by ADTR that is completely pop punk, because those songs always have either breakdowns, screaming, or both. They're easycore, not pop punk, and I think it should be changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.91.141.64 (talk) 20:13, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

They do have "fully" pop punk songs, but even if they didn't, we have to keep pop punk for now. When we have a page for "easycore" (and I think we will soon), we can change it to that.----MASHAUNIX 14:46, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
