Clean Up and Risk Parity

[edit]

I've done some clean up and added some info about Risk parity which is a portfolio strategy that AQR has been very active in recent years. I welcome other editors to help develop the article.--KeithbobTalk 12:00, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Did some work, more work needed

[edit]

I updated the AUM and employees, and also the business description and security. I waffled about taking out the 2007 IPO story. While I have no doubt it was true, it was only sourced as a rumor, and it's not clear if it's relevant five years and a financial crisis later. If anyone disagrees, please restore it.

What we really need is some more current news stories. The firm has been mentioned in several books, especially Scott Patterson's The Quants, and a number of recent news stories. If I get chance I'll try summarizing some of this material, but anyone else is welcome to take a crack.

Hi AC, thanks for the clean up work and the heads up on the removal of text. I've replaced the text as it says 'according to reports', not rumors, and the NY Times is a very good source. I think its a relevant part of their history. If you disagree, we could ask for a third opinion. Let me know and thanks for all your help. Best, --KeithbobTalk 19:58, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Changed "retail" to "financial advisors"

[edit]

Since the firm markets to individual investors only through financial advisors. AaCBrown (talk) 16:47, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New Sources

[edit]

Recently there have been some new articles published about AQR Capital and Cliff. I think it would be beneficial for a dedicated party to read through some of these and try to add any important information to the article.

exeunt's March 20, 2016 edits

[edit]

exeunt removed most of the material from this article on March 20, and put the following message on my talk page. I moved it here for public discussion.

Hi Aaron,

I went a bit crazy editing the AQR page. I realized that in one of my edits I deleted your contribution on 13F filings and called it "nonsense." D'oh! While undoubtedly true that some investors look at AQR's 13F filings, I doubt that many do and so I deleted it. I hope you understand. You can add it back in if you disagree--I won't object. I made a few other changes, including changing AQR's legal structure from LP to LLC (LLC is listed on the website and the firm's Form ADV Part 2A). There's an AQR Group LP (which I assume you're a partner in) that owns the LLC. I plan to create a history section and I'd appreciate if you vet it for accuracy.

exeunt (talk) 19:55, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

As I noted above, I am unsure of the relevance of the 13F section, I included it at Comatmebro's request. I can also go either way on calling AQR an LP or LLC, as the name can refer to a variety of related legal entities. I think the awards are worthy of inclusion, as they are from major organizations reported widely in the business press, but I can see your objection about promotion. I think a history section would be a nice addition, if you are inclined to write it.

On the other hand, I would not have removed all the information other than the summary and AQR Insight Award. I think the parts on products and strategies are the most important parts of the article. Can you let me know why you deleted those? The AQR Insight Award is more tangential than the firm's business, although I would keep that in as well.

I'd also like to hear from anyone else interested in this article.

AaCBrown (talk) 14:36, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I haven't heard from anyone else, so I'll do a rewrite trying to keep exeunt and Comatmebro's points in mind. I'm going to restore some of the old material, and I've also got some updated information.

Hi @98.97.27.23: why have you removed the photo from the article's infobox? —Mx. Granger (talk · contribs) 16:45, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
