Spot checks
[edit]- [2] - Checks out.
- [6] - Can you run IABot? Link is down. Checks out via IA.
- Oh my bad, I completely forgot to do that. Done now.
- Looks good.
- [11] - Checks out.
- [16] - I couldn't validate this. GWR website gives Michael Jackson: The Experience for the listed record, and no information on this game. Is there a specific GWR publication that's being cited, and if so, can we be more specific?
- Sure, here is what I used: [1]
- Can we cite as
"Best Selling Game Affiliated To A Musical Artist". Guinness World Records, 2015. Gamer's Edition. Guinness World Records. 2014. p. 32.
- Can we cite as

RS
[edit]- [3] - Is Club Nintendo an independent source that can be cited for reception?
- It is an official Nintendo magazine, but from my inspections, it appears to be made through Nintendo but not as a... division? of Nintendo. On WP:VG/RS, it is not uncommon for an official magazine to be marked as a reliable source; for example, despite being published by Nintendo, Nintendo Power is not identified as having reliability issues.

Everything else looks fine.
OR
[edit]Looks fine, no uncited statements.
CV
[edit]Earwig is clean besides quotes from interview. The development quotes feel slightly unnecessary given that the entire paragraph is already from one source, but that's more of a content than a copying problem.
- I paraphrased one and removed the other.
- Looks good.

Images
[edit]- Infobox image: Looks fine.
- Reception image: NFCC looks fine. Could you update the caption to describe the image?
- That good?

Coverage
[edit]- Broad: I don't love that almost the entirety of development is sourced to one interview, but my quick search didn't find much else. Are there other potential sources out there?
- I've tried to find other details, but unfortunately, it is the only source I have been able to find that covers its development in an way that would warrant mention (ie, I've seen some press releases with some very promotional commentary that wouldn't enhance the article in any way). If there is more, I couldn't find it in the web archive of magazines, so it either doesn't exist or it's likely way too difficult to reasonably track down.
- Alright.

- Focused: Is there secondary coverage of the list of songs?
- Not that I have seen, no. The only coverage I have found is a press release in a non-reliable source, and the source used to verify the number of songs, which shows each song in their gameplay footage.

Prose
[edit]Lead
[edit]published by the French gaming company Ubisoft
-- This is only present in the lead, can it be reflected in development? It includes a multiplayer "Karaoke Mode," allowing two players to sing using USB microphones while two other players can dance.
-- For a reader not familiar with Just Dance (me), this being the first introduction to the gameplay is a bit jarring. Can we introduce the main gameplay / dance mechanic first? For original content, they also tried to be original while also in keeping with ABBA
-- repetitive- I have made the above changes, is the gameplay clearer in the lead now?
Gameplay
[edit]- General: I have unanswered questions after reading this gameplay section.
- How many players is the game for? Can only two players dance in the normal mode? Do I need to play Karaoke mode to play with four players?
- How does one "follow the movements of members of the Swedish pop group ABBA"? The Just Dance series article describes the gameplay as "players mirror a dance performed by dancers on the screen, following moves that appear as pictorials on the bottom right corner of the screen", and I'm not entirely sure how this translates to having a Wii Remote without having seen the game.
ABBA: You Can Dance is a music and rhythm game based on Ubisoft's concept franchise
-- what is a concept franchise? I don't get anything on Google or wiki for it.This is in contrast to certain past Just Dance and related titles
-- Are there specific past titles that sources contrast this to, or was this never present before in the series?which only let you sing along for fun.
->players
, don't use "you" per MOS.The game also features a story mode called the "Mini Musical Mode" that features select songs from the main mode of play, and also shows the original ABBA music videos.
->called "Mini Musical Mode"
, wikilink music video.- I have made the changes listed. Do you feel that the article is clearer now?
- Yep, let's keep going.
- I have made the changes listed. Do you feel that the article is clearer now?
Development and release
[edit]The backgrounds were also designed with the intend
->intent
Some costumes were taken from ABBA music videos, while others were original, meant to get as close to the spirit while still being original
-- probably change out one of the adjectives againIt was originally revealed without a release date of Q4 2011
reads really weirdly. I'd sayIt was originally revealed for a Q4 2011 release, without a specific release date
. I'd also break the paragraph before this sentence.
Reception
[edit]- WP:VG/REC recommends quoting Metacritic's blurb ("Mixed or average"), not it's numerical average.
- Not necessary for GA, but it would help to group/organize the reception section somehow. Thematically or by opinion, but right now it's a bit "A said B. C said D."
Despite finding the content light, what was there was good.
-- The two parts don't really agree in tense. I'd sayDespite finding the content light, they found that what was there was good.
However, she felt that the game was somewhat limited and that it stops being engaging relatively quickly, though she appreciated that it was cheap.
-- tense,stopped
Jeux Video writer Anagund felt that, despite enjoying ABBA, found it boring
-- grammar, eitherhe found it boring
orit was boring
, and I'd probably swapit
forthe game
here for object ambiguity. Also wikilink Jeuxvideo.comDespite the choreography being identified as accessible
-- I think this is their opinion, soidentifying the choreography
The combined sales of ABBA: You Can Dance and seven other Ubisoft dance games from November 20–26, 2011 totaled more than one million copies sold.
-- Unclear. Is this the sales as of that week, in that week, or since that week? Also paragraph break before this sentence. In total, ABBA: You Can Dance sold 720,000 copies.
-- I think this needs an "as of".- I believe I've addressed everything, except for the non-GA point that I will work on. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 23:52, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- @A412: I tried to make the reception section flow better. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 00:08, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
