New River/Goswell Road
[edit]The statement in the current article:
The New River originally flowed down the centre of Goswell Road, but is now underground and no trace of it can be seen at the surface.[30
looks very odd to me. Agreed, the New River has been progressively culverted over the centuries, but on all the early maps (eg Roque) the New River crosses Goswell road almost perpendicularly, and doesn't appear to have run down the centre of it
