Manufacture in Arab countries

I'm wondering if there was manufacture of 7.92x33 Kurz in Arab countries, or if it was imported under contract from Yugoslavia. I have read anecdotal evidence of ammunition with Egyptian stamps (which made its way to the limited private market in the 1980s), as well as large quantities seized and destroyed by Coalition forces in Iraq. In one report, a lot of approximately one million (!) rounds were destroyed by the US Army. Another account noted a mass transfer of Stg44 rifles and kurz ammunition from Yugoslavia to Libya at one point as well. I'd be thankful for leads to citable references for any such information. Coverage

It lacks the "caliber discussion", Hitler did not want to provide a 3rd calibre to the front - that's also the reason why the "machine carbine" was renamed "machine pistol" (submachine gun) to cover up the 3rd calibre. After Hitler discovered it at a general's dinner (one of the generals of the eastern front wanted to get "Maschinenpistole 43" for his own units; Hitler told that he explicitly forbade 8x33 ammunition to "burden" supply lines; the generals told him that in urban warfare, 9mm Parabellum was too weak and 8x57 IS even from a Gewehr 43 semi-auto was too strong; so, Hitler made the MP-44 to a "wonder weapon" (Wunderwaffe) under the name "Sturmgewehr" (assault / storming rifle)).

This is documented in the cited Götz book (Deutsche Gewehre und Maschinenpistolen 1870-1945). When User:MFIreland hadn't got the boot, it was impossible to work on this article.

Why "National Socialist Germany"?

The introduction describes this as a cartridge developed in "National Socialist Germany," which, while I suppose is the "correct" name, is definitely not how it is referenced in my experience in the English-speaking world. Even the page it links to is called "Nazi Germany." Is there a reason that it is specified this way or could it be changed? Scolby (talk) 20:35, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
