Introduction

[edit]

I saw an introduction to this that parodies the FCC song from that family guy episode PTV about CBS, is that worth mentioning? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.72.139.249 (talk) 00:10, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps. Personally I think it is and view this intro to be someone being thorough.JIMfoamy1 (talk) 14:40, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Need citations

[edit]

As of 9/15, the awards have not gone underway. There have been wins, but I tagged some claims with a fact tag. Please check for factual accuracy. — Andy W. (talk/contrb.) 16:09, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Somebody forgot to add references for the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony on 9/6 [1]. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 16:19, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism during the broadcast

[edit]

Predictable, but annoying! Can't the page be locked up and one person be placed in charge of doing the bolding? DavidRF 00:42, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've requested a semi-protect be put on the page (which will stop IP and newly created users from editing it), just have to wait for an admin to act on it. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 01:04, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And it's been done. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 01:13, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Censorship of the American broadcast

[edit]

Were the random shots of the emmy globe a censor? Did they delay the broadcast by a couple seconds?204.126.2.5 02:50, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah it was a sensor... but why did the black out on Sally Field's speech? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.187.48.54 (talk) 02:54, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The question of censorship is a legitimate issue on this page, though it looks like one huge list of wikilinks at this time. It appears there were three separate incidents of "cutting" which occured on the American broadcast, but did not occur on the Canadian Broadcast.
  • The Sally Field acceptance speech
  • The Katherine Heigl expletive of surprise
  • An off-color joke made by Ray Romano
While Wikipedia is not a newsroom, and perhaps the information would best be gathered at Wikinews, this issue deserves some treatment, and this page space is exactly where that treatment belongs. It's not a partisan issue, because IMHO the broadcaster in each case can be said to have acted in the interest of preventing certain words from live broadcast. Partisans might argue the broadcaster was trying to (justifiably or not) stifle a certain idea (the mothers-antiwar link), perhaps with some merit. BusterD 13:29, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Was there actually a separate Canadian broadcast of the show? Didn't Canada just get the same FOX broadcast? Seems like a lot of work for them to produce two separate live broadcasts. Spanneraol 21:16, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • All internation versions of the show, including the CTV version in Canada (which I watched) did not censor out anything that FOX did. The shots FOX used for the censoring were pre-recorded material from before the ceremony started. CTV used simultaneous substitution to cover the FOX feed, so all Canadian viewers saw the uncensored feed. - 99.243.247.227 15:36, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I also wanted to mention I have added a section regarding these censorship controversies, and I tried to make it as non-biased and non-POV as I could. It probably still needs work though, if someone could help. - 99.243.247.227 15:36, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Creative Arts

[edit]

I'm sure not all of those were creative arts. I definitely heard all of the writing, directing and casting awards given out during the broadcast, so would someone with a tape please revise this? Therequiembellishere 19:23, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I fixed it, all the writing and directing awards were given out in the primetime broadcast, the guest actor and actress awards were at the creative arts show. I don't know who decided to break up the list in the first place cause it was easier to follow before... but if that was the decision, at least get the dividing line correct. Spanneraol 21:25, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Who reminds us that a sitcom doesn't have to make you laugh"

[edit]

That quote from the Family Guy song during the opening... It says in the "notes" that is is referring to some laugh track... Are you sure? As far as I got it, they meant that Scrubs isnt funny. If I recall it correctly they (the Family Guy creators) have made fun of Scrubs at least once earlier in Family Guy. 193.157.252.66 (talk) 02:13, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When did they make fun of it?JIMfoamy1 (talk) 14:38, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(Delayed answer) Blind Ambition (Family Guy) - Peter: "I was watching Scrubs... I was wondering, "Who's the funny guy?"" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Uenm (talkcontribs) 04:57, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, yeah. Well, I'd say the jury is still out here, so we should take down comments pertaining to either scenario until we can reach a concensus.JIMfoamy1 (talk) 03:00, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Something that occured to me: Peter was the one saying that, and I believe that without a laugh track he wouldn't know who's funny. It could be a joke against the show, but if it is it's done tongue-in-cheek.JIMfoamy1 (talk) 07:32, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
