This is incorrect. I served at the 579th Ordnance Company in 1971-72 and we wore the AWSCOM shoulder sleeve insignia.

Bunch of people that NEVER were a Member of 59th Ordnance Brigade, 3rd Ordnance Battalion after being switched from 32nd Air Defense Artillery to 59th Ordnance Brigade. the 579th Ordnance Company was no longer part of the 3rd Ordnance Battalion (formerly the 59th Ordnance Brigade's Special Troops Battalion Husterhoeh Kaserne Pirmasens Federal Republic of West Germany, and later renamed Theater Support Battalion Husterhoeh Kaserne Pirmasens Federal Republic of West Germany, finally renamed 3rd Ordnance Battalion. Additional Facts and References, there was a fight between Nuclear Weapons Ordnance of 59th Ordnance Brigade, Conventional Munitions Ordnance like 60th Ordnance Group, Wheeled and Tracked Vehicle Maintenance Ordnance Groups like the 51st Ordnance Group, for Ordnance Battalions, Companies, even Detachments. USAREUR decided, Nuclear Weapons Battalions and Companies, Chemical Munitions, and Missiles go to 59th Ordnance Brigade as "Special Weapons". Conventional Munitions go to 60th Ordnance Group, and some of the USAREUR Theater Support Commands like 21st Support Command, 7th Support Command. Missiles ended up based on the kind of Missiles, Pershing 1a and Pershing 2 went to 59th Ordnance Brigade (Maintenance) and the 56th Field Artillery, while the Lance, MGM-52, went to 41st Ordnance Company (Maintenance) and the Field Artillery Groups Federal Republic of West Germany. 579th Ordnance Company (Guided Missile General Support)

The 579th Ordnance Company is the newest ordnance unit in the entire United States Army, and is the latest addition to the 81st Ordnance Battalion family. Constituted and activated at Wiesbaden, Germany on 24 June 1961, the 579th is the first Guided Missile General Support Ordnance Unit to be employed in an overseas theatre. The formation of this company is only the latest in a long series of actions taken to provide Seventh Army Missile units with the best ordnance support available in the entire army.

The original personnel for the 579th Ordnance Company were drawn chiefly from the Seventh United States Army Advance Weapons Guided Missile Company, Gonsenheim and the 367th Ordnance Detachment, both of which were inactivated upon activation of the 579th.

The mission of the 579th Ordnance Company is to provide general support maintenance for all non-explosive components of "Y" missiles and all ordnance materiel of the ground guidance launching and handling equipment not allied with automotive or conventional mechanical equipment.

The 579th Ordnance Company is commanded by Captain William H. Dodd, Ordnance Corps."

The 579th was disbanded in 1982, so 1990 does not enter into it. And that was before Pershing 2. The 41st Ord maintained and supplied float equipment for Pershing until the 55th Spt was formed. Otherwise, I can't pick out what you are discussing here. Looks like you copied a lot of this from usarmygermany.
