I think it would be best if 2032 Summer Olympics were made into a re-direct to Winter Olympics, just like 2030 Winter Olympics article. GoodDay (talk) 02:50, 10 February 2018 (UTC)

User:GoodDay - This appears to be a typo. I assume we really are proposing to redirect to Summer Olympics. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:22, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
Oops, exactly. GoodDay (talk) 19:32, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Move Draft: 2032 Summer Olympics to (Article) 2032 Summer Olympics

There are already articles for the forthcoming 2030 and 2034 FIFA World Cup's, and there is sufficient speculation for the 2032 Summer Olympics. It should become a proper, full-fledged article.Thunda7 (talk) 12:42, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

I think that at this point there is enough information to warrant an article, and, more importantly, to warrant acceptance of this draft as the article.

There is a likelihood of vandalism by nationalistic authors, but that can be dealt with by the usual measures, including semi-protection if necessary.

Robert McClenon (talk) 19:22, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

In view of the history of so many too soon creations, some formal discussion rather than simply an arbitrary one-admin okay seems in order, and the appropriate review forum is Deletion Review, not because there was anything wrong with the five previous deletion discussions, but to get a formal sign-off that there is now enough information to support an article. Africa 2032

I would love to see an African country host these games. Nate-Dawg921 (talk) 02:52, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

Hopefully some African city is interested and applies. For the first time they could be awarded to an African country. 85.23.113.91 (talk) 11:58, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Still possible that they won't be in Brisbane??

The article says it will be confirmed next month that they'll be in Brisbane, but if there's only one possible city this means it's already official now. Is there a 25% chance that they'll be in a different city?? Georgia guy (talk) 00:47, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Please clear it up. It's saying that although Brisbane is expected to win unopposed, but it's saying below that other cities (such as Ahmedabad) are still possible. This is confusing. Georgia guy (talk) 11:17, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Certainly won't be in Qatar. The world is awake to their corruption now following the corrupt Qatar world cup hosting bid.
Just wait the decision on 21 July. WP is not a social, but a place where we report facts.--Arorae (talk) 09:11, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Moving Bidding Process to Bids Page?

With Brisbane being officially selected as the host. I was wondering if it was appropriate to move a large portion of the bidding process to its own page?

Please let me know your thoughts.

--APNOneTwo (talk) 08:45, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Update: I have moved the bidding information to the article Bids for the 2032 Summer Olympics.

Venues section

Are there any sources that confirm that all these 30 venues listed are going to be used? Given they were only announced as hosts a few hours ago, and it's 11 years away, how do we know that these are scheduled to be the host venues? If there are sources for this, please add them. Because right now, it seems like unsourced speculation]. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:11, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Joseph, I have added sources that I have managed to gather around. However, I am still in the process of trying to find the bidding documents and reports just so we can get a more robust source. The Masterplan Video seems to confirm the venues so far. --APNOneTwo (talk) 15:57, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for adding, looks better now (and means someone won't come along and delete it all using WP:V as justification). Joseph2302 (talk) 15:58, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
I have the bid source, but I just need a small window to put it in without edit conflicts that I have to sort through, haha. EditorSeto (talk) 16:02, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Better yet, here it is: (link removed, see main page IOC pdf) EditorSeto (talk) 16:06, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Many thanks for that @EditorSeto --APNOneTwo (talk) 16:12, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Also, on the subject, each of the venues shouldn't need to be individually sourced unless there's something special about that particular venue. It seems a bit excessive with them repeated on every line. EditorSeto (talk) 16:34, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi @EditorSeto, would you kindly edit your 16:06, 21 July reply, please, to remove the cite parameters? e.g. IOC Future Host Commission Questionnaire Response - Final Submission - May 2021. Not a huge deal but just a nuisance when a download link doesn't work. Thanks -- Ham105 (talk) 05:08, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
Done. EditorSeto (talk) 02:41, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

Unopposed selection

Brisbane is not the first unopposed selection of a host city. Los Angeles 1932 was won unopposed, for example. The BR article I removed a moment ago takes the AP/ESPN article (ref 1) way out of context. Brisbane is the first unopposed selection explicitly through the use of the new bidding procedures, and it should be phrased so that it's not taken any other way. Southern Hemisphere

The following paragraph needs to be corrected:

"It will be the third Summer Games to be held in Australia after the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Victoria, and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, New South Wales.[2] It will also be the second Summer Games to be held in meteorological Southern Hemisphere winter, after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. "

If two other Summer Olympics have taken place in Australia then it should read that "It will also be the FOURTH Summer Olympics to be held ..." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rev Edward Brain, D.D. (talkcontribs)

Melbourne 1956 took place in November/December and Sydney 2000 took place in September/October, both outside of meteorological Southern Hemisphere winter. EditorSeto (talk) 02:50, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
