Hutchinson as a major candidate
[edit]As far as I know, most major news networks no longer cover his campaign. In the Iowa caucuses, he was not even mentioned in the vote count along Trump et al. His polling is below 1%. Is it therefore fair to still call him a major candidate? TheCelebrinator (talk) 04:51, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- He was governor of Arkansas, which qualifies as a major office, per the criteria. Therefore, he is still a major candidate. David O. Johnson (talk) 05:01, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- If he is, he's not being treated as such by the press. TheCelebrinator (talk) 05:12, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

Binkley revisited
[edit]The Nevada caucus is today. It is a 1v1 between Trump and Binkley. It is possible Binkley reaches the ~4% needed for a delegate. Should Binkley win a delegate in Nevada, he should be considered a major candidate IMO. Colin.1678 (talk) 20:08, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- I think that South Carolina’s primary is on Saturday. Binkley and Stuckenburg are on the ballot, and Binkley is on the ballot in Michigan the following Tuesday. A week after that is Super Tuesday, and with the exception of Pence, everyone’s totals are going to balloon. At the risk of being WP:Crystal (I think that’s okay in the talk section), I expect that both will get tens of thousands of votes. Binkley is on 90% of the ballots, and Stuckenburg is on at least 15 or 20, so chill. 74.64.231.109 (talk) 12:12, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Colin.1678 Neither Binkley, nor Stuckenburg, should be considered major candidates by any stretch of the imagination. Scu ba (talk) 06:33, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- Binkley should be redesignated as a major candidate because he has recieved media coverage from Fox

- @Rhian2040 Per WP:FOX that means literally nothing, coverage from Fox cannot be used to determine notability, or major cannidate status. Scu ba (talk) 06:33, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
SD
[edit]Hi why is the table showing that SD's GOP primary is cancelled? I am unable to find any sources confirming this. I do not Know how to edit tables, or I would have fixed that. 162.213.23.84 (talk) 00:01, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
- The source linked here [1] says, "If a candidate is unopposed, that candidate will not be on the Primary Election ballot." If you do a search for "Presidential Candidate", Trump is the only Republican that submitted, so he won't be on the primary ballot. David O. Johnson (talk) 21:21, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- Fair, but then why is that not reflected on this page? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_South_Dakota_Republican_presidential_primary 162.213.23.84 (talk) 06:34, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
