Major Candidates
[edit]This is not a draft article. Should not have empty tables. The Major candidate list is empty. So I have removed it for now. Also only major 2-3 party candidates are listed. ALL candidates are not listed in these articles. Venkat TL (talk) 07:44, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Can we all agree that Janata Dal United should be in the list
[edit]I agree that JD(U)'s presence in the state of Manipur is not large however it does have a strong presence in 17th Lok Sabha well ahead of many national parties in India. Now coming to the context of opinion polls, those were taken a few months ago, and Janata Dal United's popularity has picked up great momentum after the announcement of candidate lists by INC and BJP. I am sharing a few stories from Major Indian Media channels for your reference below:
India Today on 4th Februry 2022 article states FROM NON-ENTITY TO POSSIBLE KINGMAKER[1]
The Hindu also carried an article on JD(U) gains after defections from BJP, Cong. in Manipur[2]
Another prominent newspaper Deccan Herald: In Manipur, a 'predictable' election takes twists and turns[3]
The Economic Times writes: [[Janata Dal United] contesting 39 out of 60 seats can upsets poll equations and sprung surprise[4]
NDTV also carried an article on the prominence of JD(U): "BJP B-Team" Or A Party Of Rejects? JD(U) A Surprise Package In Manipur[5]
Last but not the least, I would like to propose a holistic view of information for all to gather from Wikipedia and also being personally on ground here - I think I do deserve some credibility :)

@Dhruv edits Do we have an agreement? Can we undo the deletion? Dkedit27 (talk) 07:55, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Dkedit27 I support JDU being added into the list of candidates. Venkat TL (talk) 08:00, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks @Venkat TL. Awaiting views from @Dhruv edits as well so that we can close this discussion. Dkedit27 (talk) 12:47, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Dkedit27 Yes, you can add JD(U) candidates. However, please make sure that the list of candidates is same as provided by Manipur EC Dhruv edits (talk) 14:13, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
Should NPP added into List ?
[edit]NPP is major party in Manipur . Should it add it into the list ? Het666 (talk) 10:27, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
- Why? is it not a part of NDA? Venkat TL (talk) 11:49, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
NPP is contesting separately and has declared candidate's list so far Het666 (talk) 10:12, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
NPP Has Been Contesting Election Seprately
And It Is A Major Party In The State Of Manipur
So Add NPP Dev Adhi (talk) 11:50, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
Add candidates list of NPP Okkchak (talk) 13:12, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
If Naga People's Front is listed as a major party after winning just 4 seats in 2017, National People's Party (India) should also be listed as they won 5 seats in 2017. Please note NPP Leader Yumnam Joykumar Singh is also the current Deputy CM of Manipur. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dkedit27 (talk • contribs) 09:17, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
Dkedit27 (talk) 08:46, 11 February 2022 (UTC)== Adding JD(U) into the List ? == https://www.ifp.co.in/manipur/jd-u-names-six-more-in-final-list-36-candidates-to-contest-manipur-assembly-election-2022 The Janata Dal-United (JD-U) on 2 Feb 2022 announced six names in its final list of candidates. JDU is not major party in Manipur instead of adding JDU NPP should be in list Het666 (talk) 03:35, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
Het666: How do you define a major party? [National Peoples Party] with 1 Lok Sabha Member in the 2019 Lok Sabha General Election or [Janata Dal (United)] with 16? Please refer to the link here to see the results 17th Lok Sabha As for the Manipur election; they have filed nominations in 36 seats with many prominent candidates and sitting and exMLA's contesting the elections.
Please do check the Wikipedia pages of a few of the notable leaders who are contesting the upcoming election. User talk:Dhruv edits its my humble request to please verify if these facts and valid and add the JDU section. We certainly need JDU along with BJP and INC as they are the 3 largest parties contesting in the upcoming election.
NPP candidates could be added in the article since they have big presence in the state and 5 MLAs as well and NPP is a national party too. Dhruv edits (talk) 09:58, 13 February 2022 (UTC) Added both NPP and JD(U) candidates. Dkedit27 (talk) 12:08, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

DNF on 2022 Manipur Legislative Assembly election
[edit]Hi @Navin123explorer, what is DNF? please consider adding a full form at the bottom. Also it would need to be reliably sourced. How do you know it is DNF Venkat TL (talk) 08:34, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
@Venkat TL: DNF was in the article before I didn't add it. Presumbly it represents Didnot Fight. Here is a source https://m.economictimes.com/news/elections/assembly-elections/manipur/bjp-ally-npf-to-contest-in-10-seats-in-manipur-elections/articleshow/89290233.cms Navin123explorer (talk) 09:22, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Navin123explorer please consider adding the link as reference, and full form at the bottom of the table. Thank you. Venkat TL (talk) 09:25, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
No. of districts
[edit]As per List of districts of Manipur, there are 16 districts in Manipur. However, List of constituencies of the Manipur Legislative Assembly and Candidates section of this article only lists 9 districts. Can someone verify this and make necessary changes in the article? @Mahesh Chhanga 78 @SOURAVSHETTIGAR @Dkedit27 @Het666 @Mins pk Dhruv edits (talk) 23:57, 21 February 2022 (UTC) Adding @Venkat TL Dhruv edits (talk) 13:10, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
- Thers is no confirmation about district and constituency. All official sites of ECI,CEO MANIPUR,DISTRICT COLLECTOR & also MANIPUR ASSEMBLY are conflicts about district and its constituencies. Mahesh Chhanga 78 (talk) 06:23, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- 7 new districts were made in 2016 ,but there's no mention about ACs in that particular new districts. Mahesh Chhanga 78 (talk) 06:26, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Mahesh Chhanga 78 I have found a recent press note from ECI which shows the map of Manipur with 16 districts. See the section below. Dhruv edits (talk) 13:33, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
Per the respective district websites and also referring to information available via the official ECI website CEO Manipur[6] we have district and constituencies for all except 4 districts. Should we go ahead and create this?Dkedit27 (talk) 12:38, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Dkedit27 I think that website hasn't been updated. See the section below.
Statistical reports
[edit]As per statistical report of 2017 Manipur election 1, there are 9 districts, even though 6 additional districts were created in 2016. 2019 Lok Sabha election statistical report mentions 11 districts 2. But ECI recently released a press note for this election cycle 3 where the map of Manipur (pg 55) shows 16 districts. Since the latest information shows 16 districts, we should also show 16 districts under Candidates section. Dhruv edits (talk) 13:29, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Dhruv edits We can wait for ECI results and use that when it comes. It will be most recent list of districts. Venkat TL (talk) 13:34, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
I concur with both of you - we should wait. talk) :@Dhruv edits. Dkedit27 (talk) 04:20, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Venkat TL @Dkedit27 Yes we can wait. Voter turnout app will have the information on the date of voting. Dhruv edits (talk) 14:20, 24 February 2022 (UTC)

Opinion poll table need to be split
[edit]Not sure who has merged them. Merging votes % and seats into same table makes it hard to read. Please split it into 2 separate tables. --Venkat TL (talk) 09:03, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Xoocit vote share and seats are separate things. Discuss on the talk page. Venkat TL (talk) 08:50, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
- Till yesterday, every election page had those combined, it made sense to combine those two as they were from the same opinion poll. Xoocit (talk) 08:56, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Xoocit Why are the graphs separate? what is the reason and benefit of merging? Venkat TL (talk) 09:04, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
- I was just following trend in other wikipedia pages, go ask them what's the benefit of merging. Xoocit (talk) 17:25, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
