Opinion Polls
[edit]@Naren aviation this link [1] is giving exact predicted number of seats. How did you get a range for the table? Please read WP:OR and WP:SYNTH. Stick to what the source is saying. Venkat TL (talk) 09:28, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
New System
[edit]@Naren aviation: what system are you talking about here? [2] Where was it discussed. Please link the discussion page when making such references. Venkat TL (talk) 05:51, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
@Venkat TL: Hey man please check the 2021 elections and the 2022 election. Only 2 pages have where 2 parties or more are represented from an alliance. Puducherry was because no.of mla defected and appointment had to be represented party by party and deduction in major seats by west bengal. In Tamil nadu Assam UP Utterakhand and so many more are no using this. Where the face of allaince is there while remaining are in the table.
- This just doesn't make any sense to me. Just because it wasn't needed during some state elections, doesn't mean it won't be needed in the upcoming elections. It is a case specific requirement, not a hard fast rule. There would be many cases where 2 or more alliance partners are needed in the infobox, like in this page.
- Also, please don't use the "We are following a new principle system..." line, when there hasn't been any consensus regarding the matter either on the talk page or WP page. Dhruv edits (talk) 09:34, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, as @Dhruv edits said, if there is any dispute the discussion should happen on the article talk page. There seems to be no consensus like @Naren aviation is claiming. Venkat TL (talk) 12:08, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Alliances in Infobox
[edit]Not everyone can be added in Infobox. We have an entire section 2022_Goa_Legislative_Assembly_election#Parties_and_alliances to cover these alliances. Only keeping top 3, I have removed all others. Venkat TL (talk) 19:06, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
Should AITC alliance candidates be added to the list of candidates.
[edit]The Goa Election page lists the candidates of 3 major alliances. The position of AITC is not in the top 3. There are at least 6-7 alliances, and it is not possible to list candidates from all these alliances. Normally only the Election winners and the runner up candidates are listed in table in the election article, in results section. Since the results will be released on 10 March, top 3 alliances have been listed, as they have consistently been in top 3 in opinion polls and the victors and runner ups will be from these 3. On 10 March only the Winning and the Runner up candidate will remain on the Election page. I remind editors to maintain the WP:STATUSQUO with 3 (or top 2) major alliance in candidate list until the results are declared. (for example see 2022 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election). Venkat TL (talk) 11:43, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
- Since the alliance won 2 seats. Even though AITC did not. I believe I am ok with keeping AITC here in the list of candidates. Venkat TL (talk) 17:43, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
Should we added NCP+ candidates
[edit]NCP Have some major candidates like Filipe Nery Rodrigues & Jose Philip D'Souza Hawkedits 27 (talk) 18:10, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- They are MLAs. what makes them Major candidates? If they were former or existing CM they could be mentioned in the intro of the section in prose. They are not CMs. So we should not mention them. If they are winner or runner up, they will be added, after results get declared. Venkat TL (talk) 19:51, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Hawkedits 27 No. 0 seats and 1% vote. So even after results no NCP candidate can be added. Venkat TL (talk) 13:54, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
Keeping only a summary of Opinion Polls
[edit]I have Removed the detailed Opinion poll data and only kept a short summary. Refer to the news article, ओपिनियन पोल इतना इतराते क्यों हैं:इनके 90% दावे गलत, फिर भी इतना हो-हल्ला; आइए ओपिनियन पोल की पोल-पट्टी खोलते हैं where Bhaskar newspaper has published a scathing survey of Opinion Polls. Dainik Bhaskar published a survey of past opinion polls and concluded that the opinion polls had failed to predict the correct election outcome more than 90% of the time and were unreliable. No internationally reputed news paper has published the results of these opinion polls. In such cases it is not appropriate for Wikipedia to publish in details these polls. I believe a short summary of the latest Opinion poll is enough.
@Gurk91: No need to include 1 year old opinion polls from C Voter. Please discuss your concerns here on the talk page first. Please only keep the most recent opinion polls. No News agency is publishing old opinion polls when they have the most recent ones. --Venkat TL (talk) 09:01, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
- Alright, there is a merit to displaying opinion poll data even if they're sometimes incorrect. No opinion poll is ever going to get it a 100% right. All major democratic elections have these. Take a look at these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_United_Kingdom_general_election#Opinion_polling, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_United_States_presidential_election#Polling, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Canadian_federal_election#Opinion_polls
- As for including 1 year old opinion polls, as you see in the links above, this is standard practice across democracies around the world. It also helps give people a sense of how popularity to leaders and parties in a region change with time. A graph with the data is a nice visual representation, which a text summary wouldn't give. Gurk91 (talk) 09:41, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
- Also, it's not entirely correct to say that news agencies aren't publishing old opinion polls. Almost every news channel compares the latest ones with older polls to give people a sense of how the popularity of a party/leader has changed over time, and how that correlates to events happening in the state (announcing the name of a CM candidate/new alliance partners/majors laws introduced or repealed etc.) Gurk91 (talk) 09:46, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
- You cannot compare US and INDIA. India is 142 in Press Freedom Index. Nice visual representation is not enough reasons to keep Fake and paid opinion polls published to influence Public opinion. Wikipedia is not a means of advertisement or promotion. (See WP:NOTPROMO) Feel free to post these visualizations on CVoter page. Dainik Bhaskar is a reliable source and it makes a compelling case. Unless you have good reasons to keep, I will be removing it. Please do not edit war to restore it back. Venkat TL (talk) 09:56, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
Manipulation of Opinion Poll: A television news channel in a sting operation found that agencies (including CVoter) which conduct opinion polls before elections are willing to tweak their findings for money.[1][2] It included global giants like Ipsos and CVoter. After the expose, India Today Group suspended its CVoter contract.[3][4] --Venkat TL (talk) 07:34, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

- @Venkat TL: The fact that there was a sting operation several years ago isn't grounds to remove them, especially when it has been standard practice to include them for quite a while. Of course, no poll can be 100% accurate, but I haven't seen any WP:RS that these polls are actually consistently biased in favour of the ruling party- that's just your assessment. Which isn't grounds to remove them, since they can still provide useful insight. The pollsters are a reliable source with regards to the polling data they provide, even if that data isn't accurate. --पदाति (talk) 09:12, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
Major Candidates intro
[edit]Some major candidates from four major alliances are included in list Het666 (talk) 04:44, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Het666 thanks for the useful edit. I have trimmed the deputy CMs. While CM deserves a mention due to him being the head of the cabinet, the same is not true for deputy CM. So I have removed Deputy CM mentions. Venkat TL (talk) 05:39, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
Exit polls unsourced
[edit]@Naren aviation please supply the reference for exit polls that you have added. If no reference provided from reliable source, then the edit will be reverted. Venkat TL (talk) 17:46, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
Opinion polls
[edit]I have Split table of Opinion poll. Merging votes % and seats into same table makes it hard to read. Please follow it in other pages too. Venkat TL (talk) 08:59, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
Should remove candidates list
[edit]Should remove candidates list because now election are over. Hawkedits 27 (talk) 14:50, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Hawkedits 27 yes, I was thinking the same, until I got a better idea. On 2022_Punjab_Legislative_Assembly_election I have bolded the winners. So it is still useful. The table lists the giant politicians who lost the election. A reader can find that info useful. So in a way the table of candidates has been repurposed to still be useful now. What do you think? Venkat TL (talk) 15:08, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree with Venkat TL. The list of candidates is still there in election articles of last election cycle. Also, with Venkat's idea, the candidate list serves a purpose even after the end of election. Dhruv edits (talk) 15:33, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
Inclusion of Delhi Liqour Policy case
[edit]Multi media reports have been made that the Enforcement Directorate has alleged that AAP used the Delhi Liqour Policy's money to fund the Goa elections, I think this should be mentioned in the article under AAP's campaign or as a separate section. Any opinions? Xoocit (talk) 13:20, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
