Displaying Results - Re: District Municipalities
[edit]In 2016 the results from District Municipalities were included, though in many cases the information was not complete; and the local and metropolitan municipalities where identified. In 2011 the District Municipalities were not included at all and the metropolitan and local municipalities were not identified. So 2016 was an improvement. District Municipalities have members who are selected from Councillors of the Local Municipalities. The results should be displayed to reflect the relationship between the District Municipalities and Local Municipalities. The 2016 way of displaying the data does not provide this visual connection between the two levels of municipal government. Below is an example of how it could be done, with the comparison to the 2016 results.

Prior Control - Municipality placed under S139 Administration
[edit]How will Prior control be displayed for municipalities that were placed under S139 administration before the election.
Western Cape coalition updates
[edit]Not going to update the article myself because of COI, but the coalition results for the following municipalities should all be updated from "Hung".
- Knysna: DA-KIM minority coalition
- George: DA-VF+-ACDP coalition
- Langeberg: DA-VF+ coalition
- Cape Agulhas: DA-VF+ coalition
- Theewaterskloof: ANC-PA coalition
and I don't even know how to describe Witzenberg which has an ANC speaker, DA mayor and GOOD deputy mayor. Source for all the above: [1]. And then I know that Saldanha Bay has a DA-VF+ coalition but frustratingly I can't find any news reporting covering it to use as a source. - htonl (talk) 03:16, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Htonl: Hi, Htonl. I have updated it now. Can you please get permission from the DA to upload pictures of Tania Campbell, Randall Williams and Mpho Phalatse to Commons? Best, LefcentrerightDiscuss 19:49, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks very much! See update on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject South Africa/Politics task force for the photos. - htonl (talk) 10:23, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

Useful source
[edit]The page at https://councils2021.theoutlier.co.za/ may be useful for filling in some of the gaps here with respect to coalitions/who governs. - htonl (talk) 14:29, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
Recount
[edit]Please note that there was a recount that was only finalised in May 2022 [1]. All result tables should be regenerated as a result, or alternatively both the original and the recounted results should be shown. I also wonder if a small section on the recount is perhaps warranted, as a recount that actually causes seat changes (even small ones) in a democratic election seems something that should be noted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.222.26.230 (talk) 05:49, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
