Timeline
[edit]Can the timeline be added? In some UK news, the time is mentioned e. g. 10:33 pm the attack, at 10:39 pm police using taser stun and so forth. 2A02:8388:1600:C80:BE5F:F4FF:FECD:7CB2 (talk) 09:37, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
To be nominated
[edit]As the original creator of this article I will probably be nominating this for deletion once the news cycle dies down. It turned into far less of a story than I initially thought it would. Seddon talk 14:07, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- Agreed.--الدبوني (talk) 15:05, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- If it's nominated for deletion, I'll vote to keep it. Six people were stabbed in the street at a busy square in central London during one attack. I think it's notable, even if it turns out to be nothing to do with terrorism. Jim Michael (talk) 16:28, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- One victim is now dead. Very similar to 2015 IKEA stabbing attack, 2015 Leytonstone tube station attack, Reutlingen knife attack, and far too many other similar. Doubt very much that it would be deleted.E.M.Gregory (talk) 18:05, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- I'd support deletion. This is not an encyclopaedic article, it's something for the newspapers. A single isolated murder by (what looks like, at the present time) someone with mental health issues isn't something we should be covering in a stand-alone article. – SchroCat (talk) 23:29, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- So much for WP:NOTNEWS, hey? I will also be voting delete when the discussion comes. — Scott • talk 20:49, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- Count me in, once the news cycle dies down. If it starts now, it'll end in "no consensus". If we wait, there's only a 90% of chance of that. InedibleHulk (talk) 05:14, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- Advise waiting considerably longer than that, as per WP:RAPID, WP:PRESERVE, and the length of the investigation in previous cases with similarities, such as the University of California, Merced stabbing attack, where the attack took place in November, but the results of the investigation were not announced until March.E.M.Gregory (talk) 19:36, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- I'm nominating 2016 Würzburg train attack in mid-2018. Remain vigilant. InedibleHulk (talk) 03:10, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
KEEP, for the reasons provided above by E.M.Gregory and below by others including me.TVC 15 (talk) 20:24, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

This article should definitely be kept. Please do not delete it without at least notifying me to participate in the discussion. Whether NATO and Commonwealth officials choose to call these murders "terrorism" seems terribly political; for example when BBC and other Commonwealth media chose to delete the latest Munich Muslim murderer's first name (Ali) so as to conceal the fact he was Muslim. (BBC and others chose to say lone nut case there too, at least until German police arrested an Afghan Muslim alleged accomplice. The Muslim trucker in France was also called a lone nut case, at least until French police arrested five alleged accomplices.) As a non-commercial and non-governmental site, WP may provide a rare opportunity for objective coverage of these ongoing murders committed by people who hold sacred a doctrine that commands them to kill disbelievers wherever they can. (See Koran 2:191, 8:50-60, 9:3-5, and countless hadith, which the latest 'lone nut case' seems to have listed among his preferred reading.) These deliberate murders of "random" (i.e. non-Muslim) people are a matter of grave public concern that should inform debate about public policy, and reliable sources reporting on them should neither be suppressed nor concealed.TVC 15 (talk) 10:50, 6 August 2016 (UTC) But, colleagues, ISIS has called for "lone wolf" attacks, and they will increasingly be coming in "isolation," if that means, without direct Bin Laden-style control. I strongly disagree with deletion, and gave my reasons in the section about "mosaics" below. Profhum (talk) 20:43, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

Continental origins of victims
[edit]Since the article read that some of the victims were from America (the continent) and others from Australia and Israel (the countries), I evened everything out and replaced for "America, Asia," etc). XavierItzm (talk) 17:45, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- 'America' here means the United States not the continent. Dubmill (talk) 17:58, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. I thought the victims may be Canadian or Chilean, for example, as anyone from Canada or Chile is clearly from America. XavierItzm (talk) 19:21, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- I've changed America to the United States, so there's no longer any ambiguity. Jim Michael (talk) 21:30, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- North America and South America are two continents. If you don't see that first bit in a descriptor, it's virtually always a United States of American; calling them that (or United Statesian) sounds too weird to catch on, at least in English. InedibleHulk (talk) 05:07, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

Move article to "2016 Russell Square stabbing"
[edit]I suggest renaming the article as stated. Any other ideas or thougts about it? --Angerdan (talk) 21:32, 15 June 2018 (UTC)
- As there have been no other notable stabbings in Russell Square, disambiguation by year is unnecessary. WWGB (talk) 01:51, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- The view from the category perspective shows the usefulness of uniform names for several articles to separate them by year: Category:Stabbing attacks in Europe --Angerdan (talk) 08:07, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
