Thanks :) . Side note: I presume Newcastle Jets in NPL NNSW, Central Coast Academy in NPL NSW and Perth Glory in NPL WA are also ineligible for NPL national finals? Does anyone know? I have no references to confirm this either way. --TinTin (talk) 00:04, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

The link just says "As per a memorandum of understanding between FAM and FQ, Harimau Muda ‘A’ are not eligible to compete in the National Premier Leagues Finals Series or the FFA Cup, but will play for competition points in the league." - so there has not yet been a statement saying youth teams can not compete in the finals, so we should assume that they currently will.--2nyte (talk) 02:37, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

FFA Launch NPL 2014

NPL QLD removal of Central QLD; Bye rounds

With Central Queensland Energy being cut from the league leaving the amount of teams in the NPL Queensland season at 13, I think the table should have CQ at the bottom of the table as DNQ (which can be done in wiki template). With that in mind, there are now bye weeks for the round a team was to play the Energy. I think a new template to include the bye rounds should be made to leave it something like what is on the NPL QLD ladder: [2]. Protenpinner (talk) 16:03, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

Lack of coverage for 3rd/4th tier etc.

I'm concerned that 3rd and 4th tier (etc.) leagues are not being covered in this article. Those league and the clubs taking part in those competitions are still part of the national premier leagues. As far as I'm aware the 3rd/4th tier is not part of the NPL. The NPL is a national second tier of football, encompassing only the top leagues of each state federation.--2nyte (talk) 05:35, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Yes, and NSW 3rd tier is called NPL 2, and Victoria 3rd tier is called NPL 1. But I don't think the names of the leagues have any correlation to them being part of the National Premier Leagues, which is essentially a banner of second tier/highest state level leagues. I do remember reading somewhere that FFA plans to have separate 'banner leagues', NPL 1, NPL 2, NPL 3, etc, which will correspond to the various state leagues, 3rd tier, 4th tier, 5th tier, etc, and together will for a national uniform league system. I really don't think we should seeing as there is no definitive 3rd, 4th tier in Australia; we really only have the A-Leage and NPL, everything else is a mish mash. Also, I just wanted to point out the 2014 FFA Cup Qualifying Rounds article and 2014 FFA Cup article. I don't know if you've seen them but I think they are progressing pretty well, along with this article. I think the question here is not whether 3rd and 4th tier leagues should be included but which leagues should be include in this NPLs article. NSW NPL2 and Victorian NPL1 are both part of the NPL structure. NSW has 24 NPL clubs divided into two divisions, Victoria has 28 NPL clubs divided into two divisions but other member federations, simply because they are not as populous, have only enough NPL clubs for one division. NSW NPL2 and Victorian NPL1 should both be included in this article. (See for example: FFV NPL 2014 Rules of Competition - Schedule 3 - 10. COMPETITION STRUCTURE). To reinforce this, you find there is an error in the NSW NPL table in that Manly is not facing relegation to NSW Super League (no such league exists, except as an historical reference), but would be relegated to NSW NPL2. NSW NPL2 relegation is to NSW State League 1 and from there relegation is to NSW State League 2. NSW State League (consisting of two divisions) has a different structure to the NSW National Premier League. McSpeedy380 (talk) 12:11, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

No probs. I was just looking at this article here, and I took it on face value, even though from memory it is indeed called the IGA NPL NSW Men's 2. I changed over the wording, but it redirects to the old State League page until someone creates a new page for the Men's 2. I think the highest state-wide divisions should be the only ones mentioned here, as it may appear messy, but if these pages become more popular, we could maybe include a link to an overall summary page, like I created for South Australia's 2013 season? Colours and Finals

I've taken the liberty to create each league's finals series and I will now also work on incorporating green and red rows to show which teams are in the current finals positions and also the current relegation positions, based upon the relegation spots mentioned on this Wikipedia entry. Champions/Premiers

The (C) next to a team's name indicates they are the champion of the end of season playoffs, and not the minor premier which gains the spot in the NPL National Finals. For this, a team finishing as low as 6th in the regular season can be "Champions" and thus, earn the (C) next to their name. These won't be known until late September in most cases.
