Census website on blacklist
[edit]I cannot add any links for census2011.co.in because it is listed in Wikipedia's blacklist. Can anyone remove? NagalimNE (talk) 07:29, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
I see a lot of articles using this website as a citation now. Has the blacklisting changed? If so, why? Can someone {{help}} me out please? Tanyasingh (talk) 10:08, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
- Tanyasingh, "a lot of articles"? Links please. Cabayi (talk) 17:45, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Tanyasingh and Cabayi: MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist/archives/April 2020 § census2011.co.in, the most recent whitelisting request, was declined as not being the official census data. The earliest blacklisting request I could find is under MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist/archives/May 2019 § onefivenine.com. Perhaps the results of a census2011.co.in query were added before May 2019. – Per consensus reached at Talk:2020_United_States_census/Archive_1#Requested_move_16_November_2020 that "census" is a common noun and should be lowercase. This move would put these articles in line with other similar articles such as 1950 United States census, 2021 Canadian census, and 1841 census of Ireland. As always, feel free to suggest any that I may have missed. Woko Sapien (talk) 18:51, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

- Good catch! Added it to the list. Woko Sapien (talk) 14:15, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

- Comment looked through to see if these were all of them and found these articles, which I'm not entirely sure if they would fall under the purview of this RM: 2011 Botswana Population and Housing Census, Next Ukrainian Census, 2014 Myanmar Census, 2021 Population Census in Hong Kong, and Population Census in Hong Kong. In any case, I support the proposed move per nom. Cheers, Dan the Animator 01:52, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Dantheanimator for the most part, I would say yes. Woko Sapien (talk) 00:40, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Great, I'll add them to the list. Cheers, Dan the Animator 00:42, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Woko Sapien: By the way, I only uncapitalized census since that's the focus of this RM but feel free to also decapitalize the words "population" and "housing" in some of the articles I added since they're also common nouns to my knowledge. Dan the Animator 00:47, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Dantheanimator all set! Woko Sapien (talk) 01:37, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

- Support all as modified, noting that the Botswana Notes and Records, Volume 46, Special Issue on the 2011 Botswana Population and Housing Census uses lowercase "population and housing census" throughout, including for specific years. Dicklyon (talk) 00:27, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
