List of editors that want to help during the Games
[edit]- If you are interested in helping with the results during the games please list your name below and the sports you want to help with.
- User:Intoronto1125 - Any sports
- User:Philipmj24 - Athletics & swimming mostly but will try others.
- User:Sellyme - Find me a live text feed on results, and I'll stay awake as long as I can to edit them in.
- User:Prayerfortheworld - Anything that I can do.
- User:Robmck3898 - I'm up for any sport.
- Why splitting them up, everyone can edit what they want. Kante4 (talk) 04:25, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- If we have a general idea of what everyone is doing, we can avoid redundancy and edit conflicts. SellymeTalk 04:56, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Nah, not into that idea. Kante4 (talk) 05:02, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- It's not like we're restricting them into doing that, it's just if there's say, 8 people working on Athletics, and some guy who really likes Athletics and Judo wants to help, he'd know that we need help with Judo more. This is for information, not suppression. SellymeTalk 05:17, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Kante4, this is a huge event (in terms of sports) and if we have a more general idea of who wants to edit what the whole process can be organized. How about if all of use were to edit athletics at one time? It would make the other sports blank, this way we have a general idea of who wants to do what. Intoronto1125 (talk) 13:53, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Sure it can be a good idea but what about the IP Editors causing edit conflicts at times? Splitting up is not bad but from those 4 editors listed, 3 said they are editing all and i would make it 4 out of 5... Kante4 (talk) 14:26, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- And how is the alternative any better? As I said, there's no restrictions at all. SellymeTalk 14:44, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Logoguadalajara2011.gif
[edit]Image:Logoguadalajara2011.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Swimming pools and the FIFA World Cups
[edit]"As a sub-site for the 1975 Pan American Games, the 1968 Summer Olympics and soccer FIFA World Cups in 1970 and 1986, Guadalajara already has 10 Olympic-size pools."
I must confess -- the relationship between hosting two soccer World Cups and having Olympic-size swimming pools eludes me. Can someone clarify or rewrite this to make sense? - PhilipR (talk) 06:15, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for image of medal
[edit]The articles the image is being used on is taking about the medals being awarded and the image helps the reader visualize the medals being awarded if they have no chance to watch the games. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 16:00, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Qualifying events
[edit]should it be mentioned that some events are also olympic qualfying events Equestrian, field hockey, handball, modern penthalon, shooting, water polo,Ranul (talk) 16:31, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

US Swim Team Listings
[edit]It looks like the three members listed on the US Swim Team are all on the Mexican Swim Team. Is it ok to just go in and delete any information like that or does that need to be handled by someone more experienced?Robmck3898 (talk) 19:01, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- Source? And you can go right ahead if it is right. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 19:04, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- http://www.kbtx.com/sports/headlines/Medrano_Ibanez_Will_Represent_Mexico_at_2011_Pan_American_Games_122205314.html It's actually only Medrano and Ibanez, Vavra is on the US team. Robmck3898 (talk) 19:23, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- Okay go ahead and remove it. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 19:30, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Probably a dumb question, but.....
[edit]Do I need to tag everything I do to the 2011 US Pan American team page? I've been adding some material and realize I haven't been doing that at all. Thanks!Robmck3898 (talk) 21:13, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- Only on talk pages. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 21:16, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Well that's ambitious
[edit]Not sure if I should say anything like this in this area, but it looks like they completely rebuilt the main website today.Robmck3898 (talk) 00:59, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yes they did, and its for the better. BTW you are right if it doesn't have to do with Wikipedia chatter should be kept at a minimum. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 01:37, 13 October 2011 :: Well it's not like if he or she is vandalizing... just wanting to confirm something... i'm guessing it's not bothering anyone. XOXO

Terrible sentence
[edit]As I was copyediting this article, I came across this sentence:
"The Pan American Torch Relay is the transfer of the Pan American Games flame from the Ancient Teotihuacan pyramids in Mexico first in the Sierra de la Estrella and after in the Temple of the Sun God — where it was selected by the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) as the place where the Pan American flame is to be lit and then transferred [22] to the stadium of the city hosting the current Pan American Games Games."
Maybe it's only because it's late at night (early in the morning...) where I live, but I can't make head nor tail of this sentence. I tried to look in the source to clarify, but the source was a dead link. (A relatively common problem for this article, by the way.) Can someone either fix this, or enlighten me so I can fix it? Hostager 09:03, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
- Oh and also, I'm not sure whether it should be was or were in the first sentence. I changed it to was, because that sounded better to me. Any grammarphiles out there? Hostager 09:06, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
