Tidbits
[edit]“I’m calling for a new jobs bill tonight.” The President cited 7 mn job losses in the past two years, but the real number was 8.3 mn.
Senate GOPers defeated a bill to create a fiscal responsibility commission, so the responsible party has to resort to presidential executive order. DOR (HK) (talk) 07:17, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
Don't ask don't tell
[edit]The page originally said "to allow homosexuals to serve in the military." I corrected the error to read "to allow homosexuals to openly serve in the military" --Bkmalone86 (talk) 16:24, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
Needs Republican response
[edit]This article needs a summary of the Republican response. Maybe 3-4 sentences will do. The event included both speeches (no TV station broadcasts just Obama's speech alone). Cmm'on, can't we think of 3-4 sentences?
Rough draft (needs plenty of work)
Governor McDonnell gave a short speech as a Republican response. He said Obama was evil, a Muslim, and wants to raise taxes. McDonnell said the GOP would give everyone a free car if they threw out the Democrats. People clapped.
Ok, that's not what he said but Wikipedia is about improvement so someone can improve this first draft. JB50000 (talk) 07:09, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Lost scheduling controversy
[edit]I would like to keep the section on the scheduling controversy involving the TV series Lost. I find it very notable and significant (or depending on your point of view, an indictment on American culture), that the power of a popular TV series can have that much influence on what day the President of the United States can make a significant speech to the nation. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (talk) 03:03, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
