Templates
[edit]We don't use typical templates on American minor league hockey pages for two reasons: 1) It keeps all the information that needs to be edited on the same page, and 2) It keeps the consistency of previous ECHL (as well as AHL) intact, and eliminates the need for a separate conference standings template, since we use color-coding to indicate which teams are in playoff position. Mtndrums (talk) 04:51, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Conference standings
[edit]Since the league is reverting to awarding playoff spots based on points earned and position in each conference, should we consider adding conference standings tables to the article like the 2009-10 NHL season article, or should we only have division standings tables? Rik (talk) 22:02, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Pre-season standings
[edit]If we're recording results from the preseason, should we just make a separate table of standings or just not record them at all? Rik (talk) 20:06, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- I am going to remove the pre-season standings. They don't really count, and aren't recorded for standings by the league anyway. Also, they aren't contained in any other article. If anyone thinks I was wrong in removing them, feel free to re-edit, but I recommend it be in a separate table.Mbsusmc (talk) 08:13, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- No, you're right in removing them. They have no basis on the actual season, so really don't need to be recorded. Mtndrums (talk) 04:13, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Dating
[edit]There is a reason that the five tildes aren't used to keep track of the date of standings updates. Wikipedia uses GMT as a dating procedure, while the ECHL is an American league, and game dates are based on local time zones (IE a game played at 8 PM Alaska Time on October 31st is still a game on October 31st, even though the game starts at midnight on November 1 Eastern Time). Since this is an American League, the dates give should reflect game dates and not the date on GMT, and the time the edits are done does not need to be included.
Also, all games for a date are supposed to be updated at the same time, if need be I will place a reminder not to update anything until ALL games are completed. Mtndrums (talk) 04:13, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Playoff Bracket
[edit]Just a thought, shouldn't we wait until closer to the end of the regular season to add the playoff bracket? At this point, it's just going to be a big blank bracket sitting there for about four or five months.Mbsusmc (talk) 07:56, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- On one side, I think we could keep it in the page, but have it hidden by insterting these wiki elements for example: <!-- bracket -->. When playoff berths are secured, we can relieve the marks without having to redo the enitre bracket template.
- On the other hand, since the definition of the playoff system earlier in the article may be confusing to some, we could leave the blank template unhidden so people understand how the playoff process will look.
- Personally, I think we could just hide the bracket in the article and wait until mid-February. Rik (talk) 21:56, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Either way is fine with me. I just threw that on there because I had to go through and create a new bracket for the new playoff system. I'll also try to reword the playoff system explanation to make it easier to follow. Mtndrums (talk) 09:46, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Stats
[edit]Just a reminder to everyone who updates stats to also update the date (on the top in standings and at the bottom in both top skaters and goaltenders date). Thank you!Mbsusmc (talk) 13:12, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
