[edit]Is there a reason that the first letter of the first names is not followed by a period? Without it, it looks awkward to me, probably because it goes against any grammatical convention that I am aware of. I changed it earlier in the week to see what it would look like, and it looked much better. Somebody changed it back, however. So is there any reason to adhere to the current, odd-looking format other than the fact that other slams are in the same format?
- I made the edit, mainly because I didn't think it looked good aesthetically (which isn't a justifiable reason for flying in the face of grammar, but oh well). Ultimately, I was just conforming to how it had been done in the past; maybe a consensus should be reached before we start changing the format (however illogical it may seem to you). Personally I think we should do away with the first name initial and only include it on players for whom it is necessary i.e. the Williams sisters, Alyona Bondarenko and her sister. Commentators normally refer to players by their surname only. And remember to sign your messages ;) Yohan euan o4 01:11, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- We were going to do that here but never got around to it. :-) I guess we'll have to deal with it after the US Open… —MC 01:20, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
