2006 US Open
[edit]Hey, I currently don't have an internet connection at home, so it's going to be a little tough for me to do this. Do you know any scripting languages? If so, I'd scrape tenniscorner.net. If you don't, I can try to whip something up this afternoon. --Dantheox 17:29, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I'm on it. --Dantheox 18:02, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- Check out 2006 US Open - Men's Singles. It's not totally fleshed out, but there's enough there that people should just have to fill in the blanks once results start coming in tomorrow. --Dantheox 18:39, 27 August 2006 (UTC) Also, 2006 US Open - Women's Singles. --Dantheox 19:27, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

This is to inform you that the recent vote to update the spectrum used for album infoboxes passed. However, there are some follow-on discussions to fine tune one or two of the categories. [edit]Hi there, the Toronto Raptors article is undergoing a FA nomination here, so all comments and feedback are welcome. I dropped this message because you indicate that you're a Raps fan! Thanks, Chensiyuan 15:30, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Please explain your changes
[edit]Hello, you have been making some changes to high-use templates, but have provided no explanation for your changes. At a minimum, please provide an edit summary so that other editors can understand why you made your changes. Thanks, Andrwsc 16:17, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- On a similar note, can you please use a sandbox or ask someone to help when you experiment directly in the main template space? Your changes are frequently quite disruptive! If you don't know what the effects of your changes will be, please don't modify templates just to see what happens. Thanks, Andrwsc 03:55, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry about that! —MC 14:50, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks!
[edit]Thanks for the barnstar for my template work! French Championships, pre-1925
[edit]A search of the historical record finds that Fyunclick is wrong. In fact, the first winner of the French championships in 1891 was...an Englishman! And Englishmen also made the final in 1892 and 1897. Clearly, the idea that foreigners were 'excluded' from pre-1925 tournaments is fallacious:
http://www.answers.com/topic/list-of-french-men-s-singles-champions-and-finalists
Repeating false 'history' doesn't make it true. Since the premise of Fyunclick's argument is lost, he should give up trying to 'exclude' others and end his discriminatory campaign.
After all, do we really believe that Wimbledon in 1877 (13 players entered) is in any way comparable to today's tournaments, where there are 128 male and 128 female singles players, not to mention doubles? These lists are more for historical purposes than for 'slam-counting' purposes. Let's not forget that the early players were at a decided disadvantage...after all, how can you play in the Australian Open in 1903 when it doesn't exist yet?Ryoung122 08:50, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

The U2 WikiProject Newsletter Issue III - 12th August 2007 | |
The Collaboration of the Fortnight Department has just been set up and is run by smithcool and neranei. If you have any questions or suggestions, or if you would like to nominate an article, go to the Collaboration of the Fortnight Talk Page.

Welcome to the August edition of the U2 WikiProject Newsletter. As you may have noticed, we are now doing themed newsletters. This one (if you haven't already guessed) is How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. Every month the newsletter will have a different theme. There will also be a special edition when the new album is released. Also thanks to Neranei for some of the U2 news.
We have two new members since the start of the month! They are Vero444 and MC. We now have 38 members!
More info from the album page here.
Last month's newsletter incorrectly stated that there were 34 members. This should've been 36. Also, under the "U2 News" section, line 3, instead of saying most recent single it should've said most recent song (this has since been corrected). The editors sincerely apologize for any misunderstandings this may have caused. The correct version of the July newsletter can be found here.
All members of the U2 Wikiproject please note that voting for the next collaboration of the fortnight starts on THE 12TH OF AUGUST. Please visit the collaboration department for more details. |

[edit]- Thank you very much. I didn't have time to learn how to create a documentation for a template. You have solved the problem.--ClaudioMB 02:22, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Michał Przysiężny, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --דניאל - Danielrocks123 19:00, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

On front cover of All That You Can't Leave Behind is a very subtle Biblical reference. In the background J 33-3 can be seen. This is a reference to verse 33 of chapter 3 of the book of Jeremiah: "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and hidden things which you have not known." |
Welcome to the September Edition of the U2 WikiProject Newsletter. The theme for this newletter is "All That You Can't Leave Behind". We hope you enjoy reading it!
Our new members this month are Keeper76 and Jort227. We have now reached 40 members.

Your Rename
[edit]I noticed here that you changed your signature to match your new name. I urge you to exercise extreme caution with this. Going back and changing links because of a rename has been very controversial. The old link should just redirect to your new page anyway. i said 01:04, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- I dont recall it being controversial changing your signature neccesarily, but I can recall one time recently where users edit warred over a users changing of links. It ended up at AN/I several times, and an RfC. I'll try to find links for you. But again, there is no need to do this, and it is just a waste of time. This probably wont be a problem, but I still urge you to think about the need for this. i said 01:13, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome. It was just a huge, sticky mess and I wouldn't like to see it happen again. i said 01:19, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
MC, please stop changing your old signature links (example), this is totally unnecessary, it's a waste of server resources and it disturbs thousands of user through their watchlists ∴ Alex Smotrov 18:42, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- But I don't want people to link me to that name for privacy reasons... What do I do, then? I only have ~20 pages left, anyway. —MC 18:47, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- If you wanted nobody to know "your old account name", you should have created a new account. Not only the rename can be easily found in logs, with mass links renaming you are also attracting a lot of attention to yourself. Since you're almost done — fine, just do it your way ∴ Alex Smotrov 18:58, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- I guess I should have used a new name... Thanks. —MC 18:59, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Canadian QF
[edit]Sorry about not replying sooner. Took me forever to figure out how to send messages. In reply to your question of who the last Canadian to be in the quarterfinals of an ATP event was before Frank Dancevic, I believe the person was Greg Rusedski. Not many people may know this, but Rusedski originally played for Canada before changing his citizenship to that of Great Britain in 1995.

Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Magic Johnson has been chosen to be our very first Collaboration of the Month article. Although this is article is already a Good Article, it still can be improved. The goal is to improve this article by the end of May so that it can be nominated for Featured Article status. In particular, free-use images should be found for the article, all Manual of Style guidelines should be followed, and a neutral point of view should be maintained throughout the article. If there is anything you can do to improve the article, then please help out. |

Proposed deletion of 2007 NBA Development League Playoffs
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 2007 NBA Development League Playoffs, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Last month's Collaboration of the Month, Magic Johnson was a great success. A total of 560 edits were made to the article during the month of May, and the article was eventually nominated as a Featured Article Candidate. Although the article was not promoted, it was significantly improved through the work of many editors. This month's Collaboration of the Month is Steve Nash. Although this is article is already a Good Article, it still can be improved. In particular, all prose should conform to Featured Article standards, all statements should be verified, and the text should be in a neutral point of view. If there is anything you can do to improve the article, then please help out.
The Collaborator of the Month is given to the editor with the most number of substantial, beneficial edits to the article chosen as the Collaboration of the Month. This month's Collaborator of the Month award goes to Chensiyuan (talk · contribs). Although he had previously helped Magic Johnson to became a Good article, he made literally hundreds of edits during the month of May. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
