Canadian National Anthem?
[edit]Is the Canadian national Anthem sung at the All Star Game? Ravenmasterq 00:37, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
It is, in fact, played and/or sung. It seems Fox has chosen to edit it out for commercials rather than actually show it, though Rogers Sportsnet (which is based in Canada) shows it. Wjmorris3 01:31, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Votes?
[edit]Why was the tally of all the votes received by different players removed? That's an important part of the all star process.
- My guess is because MLB doesn't release the final tallies for each position, just the number of votes each starter received. At least, I haven't been able to find them. If those numbers are indeed out there, then I agree it makes sense that they be included. Highway99 03:37, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Add in info as it happens?
[edit]Should we add in info as it occurs tonight, or wait until after the game? Smartyshoe 19:30, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- I am personally of the opinion that adding information as it occurs to ongoing sporting events is rather silly (this is an encyclopedia after all), but there is no wikipedia policy against it, and the general de-facto standard seems to be to add info as it goes along. --Bachrach44 02:19, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Indicating who played
[edit]Perhaps it would be feasible to somehow indicate who amongst the reserve players and pitchers actually saw play in the game? Perhaps by italicizing their names? Has anyone a list of who was used and who was not? --Edward Morgan Blake 19:22, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- It might be easier to indicate who did not get into the game, rather than who did. But I don't see any reason not to do this, and I'm sure there's some site (possibly Baseball Almanac if they've updated the site already) that lists who didn't see action on Tuesday. Quote of the Game
[edit]- Isn't the quote of the game subjective? Original Research, maybe? Figgie123 18:51, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- Not really, but the title is POV. ¿SFGiДnts! ¿Complain! ¿Analyze! ¿Review! 00:31, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

- Wow, I didn't think this would receive a review so quickly. Thank you very much, and good job to everyone who's contributed so far! Highway99 04:05, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- I would recommend an actual picture of the game or an image related to the topic. I will like to see this reach FA status some day. And I can give you guys a hand if you need me. -- JA10 Talk • Contribs 07:52, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, the page definitely needs more images. I don't know where to get a photograph that wouldn't break copyright rules, and the rules for what is and isn't fair use kinda confuse me, to be honest. So if you can help out in that regard, I, for one, would greatly appreciate it. Highway99 23:13, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- Images aren't my specialty either sorry, I'm good with references and citations and a little bit with writing. But I'll try finding a pic and ask for asisstance if I do. -- JA10 Talk • Contribs 02:10, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Problems of this article are found. Reference 6-9 means nothing as they don't provide information to the source. Rosters have too little references. Same goes to game section. Quote does not have source. 2 images are found without fair use rationales (Image:2007moneyball.jpg and Image:2007 MLB All-Star Game Logo.svg) OhanaUnitedTalk page 16:32, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Delisted GA
[edit]I'm now going to delist this article as the problems indicated are not addressed. OhanaUnitedTalk page 15:01, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- I believe most of the problems listed above have been addressed in some form or another, so I'm gonna try to resubmit it for GA status. --Highway99 (talk) 04:02, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:2007 MLB All-Star Game Logo.svg
[edit]Image:2007 MLB All-Star Game Logo.svg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

GA Review
[edit]This review is transcluded from Talk:2007 Major League Baseball All-Star Game/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
- Is it reasonably well written?
- A. Prose quality:
Some of the game commentary uses a lot of POV wording. i.e.: "That seemed like enough in the hands of the American League's closers". The facts of the game play should be reported, not the opinion of it.Another example: "but a strong throw by Griffey with a nice scoop by Russell Martin allowed Martin to easily tag Rodriguez to end the inning." (bolded words are establishing a POV)Several stub paragraphs throughout. Especially the anthems and Umpires (Game)
- B. MoS compliance:
colour coding in the Final Roster Spot section is ambiguous. I understand that yellow represents the winners of the vote, but why are Oswalt and Webb coded brown? Also, colour coding alone should not be used to highlight. This remains a problem. The yellow highlighting needs to be explained, and paired with something such as bold text.- Also, are there results for this stage of voting? All-Star Final Vote goes into much more detail. This could be integrated into this article.
Only the first word of section titles should be capitalized, excluding proper names.
- A. Prose quality:
- Checked, and now passing|}}
- Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
- A. References to sources:
- One statement I'd like to see sourced, but not going to get all that worked up about: "The game marked the first time since 1953 that one league hosted consecutive All-Star Games, after Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, hosted the game in 2006." (Background)
- B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
- All sources used are reliable
- C. No original research:
- No OR identified
- A. References to sources:
- Is it broad in its coverage?
- A. Major aspects:
- Touches on all aspects of the All-Star game.
- Fan Balloting section is thin, however. Would it help to list how many votes each starter received? Also, are the vote totals for the final roster spot player available?
- B. Focused:
- Remains on topic
- A. Major aspects:
- Is it neutral?
- Fair representation without bias:
- Remains neutral
- Fair representation without bias:
- Is it stable?
- No edit wars, etc:
- No ongoing edit wars
- No edit wars, etc:
- Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
- A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
The image of the golden ball remains commented out for not having a FU claim on this article. This could easily be fixed, and the image restored.- On second thought, this image would not serve to enhance one's understanding of the topic, so wouldn't qualify under WP:NFCC.
- Are there images of the game available? Perhaps you could check flickr to see if anyone at the game posted images under a Creative Commons license.
- B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
- A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:

The prose and MOS issues are my greatest concern. But, it is fixable. Please let me know when you have responded to these concerns, and I will happily re-assess. Regards, Resolute 00:45, 20 June 2008 (UTC)- Looking better, but still a few minor issues. Resolute 01:03, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- After deciding to {{sofixit}} to deal with some of the very minor issues that were outstanding, I have decided to pass this article. Congrats. Resolute 19:13, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Idea:Mention Fan Fest, Create "Related Events" section
[edit]After browsing through the article, I'd like to suggest adding a mention about the annual MLB Fan Fest that accompanies each All-Star event. Additionally, it might be helpful to put the Home Run Derby, Futures Game, and Fan Fest mentions all underneath a Level 2 heading titled "Related Events." This way, that article can remained more focused on the All-Star Game itself, yet point out these important all-star related events. Keep up the good work on the article, Monowi (talk) 08:00, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- That's not a bad idea, as technically those events aren't about the game itself. The Fan Fest probably doesn't need more than a sentence or two if it is mentioned, but I suppose it should be regardless. Overall, I'm inclined to leave it the way it is for now, but if there appears to be consensus for this, I'll be glad to make the changes. Highway99 (talk) 06:16, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
