Page Length

[edit]

Guys the page is getting pretty long like 72kb long. I suggest merging the Official Fall Schedule and the Fall Follow-Up schedule into one. This will reduce the size down to 64kb. Once all the networks release their mideason schedules (I think were waiting on The CW and MyNetworkTV, waiting on ABC, CBS, and MNT to confirm Saturday and The CW and NBC to confirm Sunday) but once all that is confirmed then we can remove the "By Network" section of the Midseason schedule that will then lower the page size down to 56kb. So what do you guys think? I have on my Sandbox what the page would look like with the Official Fall Schedule and the Fall Follow-Up schedule merged into two. And we could do the same to 2006-2007 schedule since that page is 54kb in length. Plus it has a cleanup tag. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 21:34, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I like that idea. There really isn't that much difference between the two current schedules, so combining them doesn't expand the tables that much. We'll just need to make sure to explain the "follow-up" rows (with valid dates) in the Fall intro. --Mtjaws (talk) 01:59, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I like it too, I was looking back at past schedules and I noticed that only the 2006-2007 and the 2007-2008 have the new style of separating the Official Fall Schedule and the Fall Follow-Up Schedule. So I thought to reduce size merge the two like before. I didn't apply it directly because I noticed someone tried to do something similar put people kept reverting it. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 08:21, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I like the model in your sandbox, Alucard, I say go for it. As is, the 2007-08 schedule is unwieldy. --Pisceandreams (talk) 14:44, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Changed! Since only three people commented with Yea I changed it plus the page was 84 kb. By merging the two the page is now down to 73 kb. I plan on fixing the 2006-07 United States network television schedule to look like this one for the Fall schedules. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 08:20, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Midseason and Fall Follow Up

[edit]

I was just wondering. Why does the page say that the midseason schedule is from December 9th and the shows listed don't premiere till this year and miss out shows that were broadcasting in December?

I.E., CBS Mondays (Which i've just edited) had just HIMYM/Welcome to The Captain/Two and a Half Men/Old Christine/CSI: Miami listed when infact The Big Bang Theory and Rules of Engagement where airing encores after December 9th, and still are till February. -- Jamie jca (talk) 22:23, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CBS gets Flashpoint

[edit]

According to this article], Canadian police drama Flashpoint has been picked up by CBS and will debut 2008-09 United States network television schedule. NorthernThunder (talk) 05:10, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page size needs lowered.

[edit]

The page was a peak of 81kb today! Wow! We need to eliminate/merge what ever we can to drop the poundage. I have some proposed ideas:

What we could do Adjustment in size Status
Merge official fall schedule and fall-follow up together -8 kb Done, see discussion above ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 08:42, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Remove "By Network" under Midseason schedule section -10 kb Complete Delete, all necessary information listed under each daily grid in the Midseason section. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪
Remove "By Network" section (the one with seperate network schedules) completely -23 kb Partial Delete Kept the lists "Returning Series", "New Series" and "Not Returning" series. Deleted the network grids as they are not needed. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 03:10, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Remove "Full season orders and cancellations" completely. -7 kb Keep Information relevant to the article. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 03:10, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My opinion if we remove both "By Network" sections that would be plenty. I think that the "Full season orders and cancellations" is informative and should be kept. Since there wasn't much difference between the Official Fall Schedule and the Fall-Follow up schedule that should stay the same and I will update last year to take on the new look as well. By merging the official fall schedule and fall-follow up together and if we remove both "By Network" sections this will drop the article down to 39 kb (39 kb better than 81 kb). ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 08:42, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I say delete the by networks (both of them) which cuts it down by 33. However I think we should keep full season orders and cancellations. --Yankeesrj12 (talk) 21:27, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted the By Network from the midseason section completely and the grids from the main By Network section. This reduced the article by 24 kb. The size now is 47 kb which is fine. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 03:10, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Third Section WILL be needed

[edit]

Okay, since the strike is over and networks are revealing numerous post-strike skeds, I think a third section will be needed, following fall follow-up to avoid the page getting to overly complicated. -- Jamie jca (talk) 02:23, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You mean a schedule following the Mid-season schedule. The networks are announcing which shows are going back into production. We should hold off until networks release official word on their schedules in case they decide to shuffle some around. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 04:10, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Small font for dates

[edit]

Given the complexity of this schedule due to the WGA strike, I changed premier dates included in the grids to a small font. Hope that's cool. =) --Pisceandreams (talk) 14:53, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Primetime Ratings

[edit]

Does anyone have a link to The Hollywood Reporter's annual primetime wrapup like it did for 04-05, 05-06 and 06-07 please? Not necesserily Hollywood Reporter, or aren't any going to be released until all shows have finished (like Lost)? -- Jamie jca (talk) 18:25, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
