Romanian mini-flag?

[edit]

I have noticed that the post-1989 flag is next to the word Romania. In 1987, Romania used Image:Romania flag 1947-1989.png|the old flag with the communist arms, and I'm not so sure of how to alter the flag to the small size. Can somebody please try to sort it out? The image is called Romania flag 1947-1989. Thanks.

Nelson on USA Team

[edit]

I noticed that Nelson listed as a scorer in the USA team linked to a science fiction writer born in 1931 who would be 56 in 1987 so this is obviously an incorrect link. could someone at Wikipedia correct this?

Also I have noticed that two of the referees, David Bishop and Keith Lawrence are linked to a WW2 fighter pilot and a comic strip artist.

Methinks someone has been a little bit indiscriminate in assigning hyperlinks.

[edit]

I ask someone to please show a source that proves that USSR were really to be invited for the 1987 Rugby World Cup finals but declined.Mistico (talk) 20:46, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for showing the link. It's a reliable source. To turn it into a link you simply have to put it between these []. Like this. [1]Mistico (talk) 00:40, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Resources to find info or cite

[edit]

I am putting this link here for want of a better place, it may be useful in a whole subsection about SA's exclusion which appears to have been discussed at the time. They had even considered creating a rival world cup in defiance of the IRFB sponsored one. Touring players to SA risked exclusion from the RWC also it appears. Someone may want to pick it up and use it The Sydney Morning Herald - Jun 3, 1986SauliH (talk) 19:18, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Success of RWC1987 - this could be discussed. A number of news articles point to the profits that were made. Also the clamoring post RWC of countries wanting future RWC, Argentina put their hand up for the 1995 RWC (!) (as other countries were looking only as far forward as 1991). While it may only serve as a footnote, it speaks volumes of the success of the 1987 RWC and the eagerness to host future cups. Argentina wants 1995 RWC

[edit]

I have found out looking from old video that a logo was used for the 1987 RWC. Does anyone know if we can find it and put it on the page? (MOTORAL1987 (talk) 14:29, 7 October 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Live on TV?

[edit]

The article lead currently has the statement "Satellite TV links were not well developed in the region at the time which meant European audiences were unable to see any of the games "live" on TV.". It was unreferenced, so I went looking for a something to back it up and found "Poor satellite links meant the game was not broadcast live to Europe." in the New Zealand Herald which seems legit, except that the article is dated October 22, 2011 and the claim is already present in the October 21, 2011 version of the article so it's possible they could have put this into the article based on what they read on Wikipedia. I found that the listings for BBC TV show the final for example was scheduled to be carried live in the UK ([2]) so I'm not convinced that this statement is correct. Rugger80 (talk) 21:34, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the statement. Rugger80 (talk) 09:52, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics in header

[edit]

I've removed this from the header:

Despite this only the ‘most points by an individual’ statistic is recorded against this tournament. "Rugby World Cup Player Statistics". scrum.com. Retrieved 8 October 2011.

This seems to come from this edit. The previous version was unsourced but at least made sense, this is a sourced non-sequitur - other statistics are of course available, even if ESPN Scrum doesn't have them. Keith the Koala (talk) 09:34, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Three way tie

[edit]

If the criteria for separating teams level on points is tries scored then should Italy be 3rd instead of Argentina? This probably affects New Zealand at the Rugby World Cup, Fiji at the Rugby World Cup, Argentina at the Rugby World Cup and Italy at the Rugby World Cup. Method of draw

[edit]

Was it an open draw or some sort of seeding for the draw? Mobile mundo (talk) 23:02, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
