Here are some comments:

Lede
  • from 12 December 1949 – 18 March 1950 - Maybe "to"?
  • Could {{nbnd}} be used to avoid breaks?
  • Davis made a break of 101 in frame 46 of his semi-final match against George Chenier - Can it be said that it was the only century break of the tournament and that it would stand as the highest break? If so, link both terms.
Background
  • The capitalization of "guineas" is inconsistent throughout the section? I believe it would be better to use lower case, but, be it one option or the other, make it consistent.
  • MOS:DASH recommends using {{snd}} for en dashes to prevent them from appearing at the beginning of a line.
  • decided to reduce the stake fee to 10 guineas (with an entry fee of 3 Guineas), and extend - No need for that comma.
  • Can anything else be said about the BACC not accepting Sidney Smith's entry?
  • When I was adding to the article, I tried to find out more about the specifics this, without success. Smith always seemed to get positive coverage in the BACC's own magazine. In the Jan 1950 edition, it even calls out "The columns of The Billiard Player supply ample evidence of its appreciation of Sidney Smith as player..." before making a vague reference to "the trouble in the Snooker Championship". Prize fund
  • {{cuegloss}} for break the first time it's mentioned?
  • There's a period for the final but not for the other two.
  • I guess it should read quarter-finals instead of semi-finals twice.
Schedule
  • The comma after Blackpool is not needed in the caption.
  • {{cuegloss}} for "frames".
  • I'm unsure about the schedule. If the schedule was decided ahead of the tournament, then the first column should mention "quarter-finals", "semi-finals" and "final" instead of the players, shouldn't it? I mean, those players played those matches because they reached that stage of the tournament. Or am I missing something?
Tournament summary
  • Would it be possible to add a sentence at the beginning of each stage of the tournament stating how many frames each match consisted of? I see that in the previous edition's article, for example, and I think it could come in handy.
  • four frame lead - "four-frame lead" maybe?
  • No need for the comma immediately after that.
  • to confirm his progression the next round - A "to" is missing.
  • after taking fix of the six frames
  • It was his second and last world championship title - Given that there's another sentence in the middle and that some continuity is lost, maybe it's better to say "Donaldson's".
Sources
  • I've checked some of the references I could access randomly. I found one issue. As far as I can see, #22 mentions Scunthorpe but not the hotel.
  • Somehow I put the wrong source title, but towards the end of the linked article, it mentions "The match is being staged at the Bluebell Hotel Scunthorpe..."
