1922 election
[edit]I am wondering how the 17-way tie for second place in the first-round voting was broken. Most likely it was by drawing of lots, but it's odd that all the Labour and Farmers candidates were near the bottom of the ranking. One important consequence was that the 15th-ranked candidate got a 9-year term and the 16th-ranked one only got 3 years. In addition, the order of distribution of surpluses would determine the order of other candidates exceeding the quota; but since all 18 got distributed in counts 3-20, that might in the event have proven immaterial. jnestorius(talk) 00:18, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
