The Native Americans were gone by then...
[edit]I take issue with the sentence: "Six people died in New Ulm, where people from nearby settlements had congregated to avoid Native American attacks.[1]" The sentence assumes that the citizens of New Ulm were congregated in the city in fear of renewed Native attacks by the Dakota - there might be some confusion here. To my knowledge, the Dakota were removed from Minnesota by then-governor Alexander Ramsey during and after the Dakota Conflict of 1862, and were not allowed to return by decree. Is the source being read correctly? Take care... Dinkytown talk 15:20, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

[edit]The Dakota/Sioux War/Uprising was in 1862, the Native Americans were no “threat” to New Ulm or surrounding area in 1880s. 2600:1014:B06D:358D:C0FA:6086:6EA6:BB4C (talk) 14:03, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
