Does anyone have an idea of approximate recoil for a typical .510 Whisper rifle? -Crimson30 07:16, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can the Encore frame even hold the .510 Whisper??

[edit]

I'm just wondering whether is safe to post that the Encore is suitable? Does the first poster have experience about that? Encore isnt made out of thet thick and strong material. What is the needed twist rate for stabilizing the .50 BMG subsonic projectiles? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.233.16.48 (talk) 20:39, 28 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Encore in 510 whisper

[edit]

I have an Encore chambered in 510 whisper. It weighs about 7.5 pounds without the silencer The stainless barrel is 20 inches long and profiled for a silencer. The recoil is enough to wreck cheap scopes, and it has also stripped off the bipod mount and the fore end screws. I installed a homemade barrel band for the fore end and used a very sturdy bipod mount. The silencer (made on an ATF form 1) adds almost two pounds to the weight and helps manage recoil. Suppressed fire sounds like a car door slamming. A typical load is about 28 grains of H110 to move a 750 grain bullet 1050 feet per second. This load half fills the case and shows no signs of high pressure. The barrel twist is 1-10 and stabilizes the bullet out to and past 500 yards. Accuracy with match grade bullets is typically 1-2 moa. Recoil velocity is about 16 fps and 29 ft-lbs.
