Date of birth
[edit]Is the 9 January 1818 date by chance a typo? Here are three sources giving Perrin's birthdate as 19 January 1818 ( [1], [2], [3]). --Robert.Allen (talk) 00:14, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
I think I am the culprit for the date; I have checked the sources I used and now can’t even find the 9th of January (only the year) – so please correct as you will. The French Wikipedia page gives 9th January (maybe that's where it came from...), but I don’t have that source (Gourret) here. Cg2p0B0u8m (talk) 18:17, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
It's funny, I got the year wrong above. It's 1814. I forgot to check the French Wikipedia. Thanks for the tip. You're right, the source is Gourret (see here). I did not find it in Dean. I'll try to do some more research on it. In the meantime, maybe a footnote is in order. I'll try to add something. Also, the lead sentence is still in the French style, rather than the English (e.g., see MOS:DOB). --Robert.Allen (talk) 20:05, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
I am also the culprit of the year category mistakes... I do sometimes cheat by copying codes and categories from existing articles... this was obviously Camille du Locle. I have now gone through all the biography articles I have created and checked them all. Whoops. Cg2p0B0u8m (talk) 22:24, 8 February 2011 (UTC)22:23, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Primarily an impresario, secondarily a painter?
[edit]It seems very odd to me that this article describes Perrin as "a French painter, mainly known as a theatre director and impresario" when the facts of his career and the nature of all of the cited sources clearly show that his primary contribution was as a man of the theatre, not as a man of the brush. Shouldn't that be switched around? Or are there sources out there to support the emphasis as given?
After all, the very source we are relying upon for his date of birth has this to say about him: "Perrin se situe parmi les plus illustres directeurs de théâtre de son siècle." "Perrin stands among the most illustrious directors of theatre in his century." That's saying quite a lot, given that the later 19th century was very much the age of the rise of to prominence of the role of the director/impresario.
