• 1955 - Hurricane Janet made landfall on the Yucatán Peninsula as a Category 5 hurricane. Janet killed over 500 people in both Mexico and British Honduras (now Belize).
• 2015 - Typhoon Dujuan reached its peak intensity with a pressure of 925 hPa just before impacting Taiwan and East China with damages up to $660 million.
• 2022 - Hurricane Ian (pictured) hit southwestern Florida, killing at least 161 people and leaving $113 billion in damage.
