- 1976 - Hurricane Belle reached its peak intensity with a central pressure of 957 hPa (mbar) off the East Coast of the United States. Belle caused $100 million of damage across the Mid-Atlantic and New England states.
- 1988 - Tropical Storm Beryl (pictured) makes landfall over in southeastern Louisiana with winds of 85 km/h (50 mph). One person was killed and damages were only at $3 million.
