Week 1: December 27, 2015 - January 2

The SyltShuttle, operated by DB AutoZug, transports road vehicles on railway wagons over the Hindenburgdamm, an 11-kilometre long (6.8 mi) causeway joining the North Frisian island of Sylt to mainland Schleswig-Holstein.

The new (left) and original (right) City of San Francisco trains, here noted as the first and second sections, respectively, are ready for passengers to board at Oakland Pier Terminal station for the new train's inauguration on January 2, 1938. The route was a joint operation of Southern Pacific, Union Pacific and Chicago and North Western until 1955; the eastern portion was then shifted to the Milwaukee Road and the route continued to operate until 1971.
