Pipilika (Bengali: পিপীলিকা) was a Bangladeshi search engine and the first search engine introduced by Bangladesh.[2] It was launched in 2013 to cater to the linguistic and cultural needs of the Bengali-speaking population.[3] The search engine was shut down in 2021.[4]

It is the country's first Bangla search engine developed by the Computer Science and Engineering students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology as a thesis project.[2]

[edit]

The copyright of Pipilika was requested by three students: Burhan Uddin, Ahmed Chisty, and Sudipta Kar via online application to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. But it was never resolved by the current executive committee of Pipilika, SUST. [5]
