John Delony is an American author, radio show host, speaker, podcaster, and mental health expert best known for his work with Ramsey Solutions—the company run by radio personality and finance expert Dave Ramsey. Delony is a co-host of the nationally syndicated radio program The Ramsey Show and host of The Dr. John Delony Show podcast.[1]
Before joining Ramsey Solutions, Delony had over 20 years of experience in counseling, crisis response, and higher education.[2] Delony has written several bestselling books, including The Wall Street Journal bestseller, Building a Non-Anxious Life.[3]
Early life and education
[edit]Delony was born and raised in the Houston, Texas area.[4] After graduating from Kingwood High School, Delony earned a bachelor's degree in humanities and psychology from Lubbock Christian University in 2000, followed by a master's degree in higher education administration from Texas Tech University.[5][6]
In 2013, Delony completed the Higher Education Management Development Program through Harvard University's Graduate School of Education.[5] Delony also has two PhDs from Texas Tech University in counselor education and supervision and higher education administration, which he completed in 2018.[6]
Career
[edit]Delony began his career in higher education leadership in student affairs positions at Abilene Christian University and his alma mater, Lubbock Christian University.[2] He eventually became assistant dean of students at LCU.[6]
At Texas Tech University School of Law, Delony served as associate academic dean of students and liaison to the broader University Campus Life Office.[2] He also chaired the Student Support and Emergency Team, advised the Student Bar Association and assisted with strategic planning for the School of Law.[5]
In May 2018, Delony joined Belmont University as associate provost and dean of students.[2]
Delony joined Ramsey Solutions in 2020 as a Ramsey Personality specializing in mental health.[7] He co-hosts the nationally syndicated radio program The Ramsey Show and hosts his own podcast, The Dr. John Delony Show.[1]
In addition to his books, Delony created the Questions for Humans series of conversation starter card decks for Ramsey Solutions.[8] He has also made appearances on Today, The Minimalists and Jordan Peterson's podcasts, as well as a keynote speaker at live events inside and outside of Ramsey Solutions.[7]
Personal life
[edit]Delony is married to Sheila Quinn Delony, a writer and life coach.[9] They are based in Middle Tennessee and have two children.[9][7]
